I see. Then again, JD did say Soto was 'our guy'
Mozeliak isn't known for his gamesmanship as much as being just shrewd. They are an amazingly stout organization, and considered the best in the game.

Cards are stocked with quality pitching, presently and guys coming up.
Miller didn't throw a ball in the WS, and they still have a young/controllable Wacha.
The Cards don't typically say a lot, I have no doubt at all.... they would trade Miller for a top SS, it's a position that keeps haunting them. I think the revolving SS door is getting old for the Cards.
Kozma is good defensively obviously, but he's an automatic out...and in the NL, that's two automatic outs.
He's gone.
Where is a new crop of catching Molina's when you need them?
Perfectly said. Tip of the hat.

Thanks
give me 5 seconds and I'll probably say something stupid...
Saves about $10 mil for other places. Man, this would be huge, IF, someone will take him and his salary. I'm on record with saying I'd rather see Kins as the odd man out. Same rose-colored-glasses as JD's perhaps.
I'd really like to see us get Ruiz to catch along with Soto. That's a solid catching tandem. Makes an already good pitching staff even better me thinks.
how does it save 10M? there are only 2 ways we trade Ian, one would call for us to take on equally bad contracts and the other would be for us to eat a large portion of Ian's 5 year $57M contract.

....and forget Cano, he blows them both away. Not even going to post it.
I think ultimately situational hitting is way too SSS. Yeah one year a guy like Allen Craig goes nuts in situational hitting and people go nuts for it, but given enough ABs those things usually have a way of working themselves out. Regression to the mean is a horrible bitch goddess. But magical babip and RISP years happen.

Kinsler remains one of our top producers Rev...BABIP or not
you certainly can't be saying Kinsler had a magical year offensively?
I'm saying, if he's traded, it better be something really nice coming back...we can't afford losing more offense
Kins had a lot of BABIP luck in the RISP dept. That's how things work out sometimes. I don't think you can necessarily count on players doing that year to year. Like look at Elvis in 2010 and 2012. Both years he had incredible RISP years, but in 2009, 2011, 2013 he struggled in that area.
I think Ian is worth keeping if they decide to, but I don't like to focus on RISP vs overall production.
MLbtraderumors, Ken Rosenthal:
A trade of second baseman Ian Kinsler or shortstop Elvis Andrus increasingly looks "inevitable" given the Rangers' crowded infield. "Some team is going to get a good middle infielder from the Rangers. The only question is which one," Rosenthal writes. It's unlikely, however, that the club packages infielder Jurickson Profar with other young players in a deal for a star such as David Price or Giancarlo Stanton. Rosenthal's sources say the Rangers want to keep their farm system stocked.
i have no faith in anything Rosenthal says.
