Well no slider is Darvish good, Darvish probably has the filthiest slider in the world.
Jose Fernandez probably has something to say about that

He has a great slider, I just think that Darvish's is a better one.

Darvish's slider was considered the best in baseball last year, now if only he could improve his fastball command.
On a per pitch basis, Fernandez's was better, Darvish accrued more value b/c he threw it more

What sets Darvish apart is he also has the 2nd best curveball on a per pitch basis, behind only Kershaw
What's even weirder is seeing that Jhoulys Chacin had the third best curve ball on a per pitch basis, he's not high on the list of people I would think of when it comes to dominant curve balls. That could be because he plays for Colorado though
if you look at the total value though and he only racked up 2.8 runs above average, he just threw a few REALLY good curveballs
Maybe he should consider throwing more of those. Although I've heard that Coors field affects how good breaking pitches are, so maybe that's why he doesn't throw many of those.

Rev ... am curious. Only minor league guy I read is Scott Lucas via the Newberg Report. Don't spend any time on Jamey's site though. What minor league guy do you follow? Thanks...
What about you other guys ... who do you read to stay current on minor league players? Or Winterball?

I would think Weaver and Wainwright are near the top.
Wainwright I know was, no sign of Weaver total value or per pitch wise
Those 2 and Kershaw are ones that come to mind when I think of good curveballs. It seems like Oakland has a pitcher with a really good one.

instead of Tanaka how about Suk-Min Yoon?
Yoon is on the small side, standing at an even six feet and weighing 180 pounds. He throws in the mid-90s, though, and complements his fastball with a hard, biting slider and a change-up that MLB scouts describe as above average. Though a starter, he has only thrown what we would consider an entire season's work (~175+ IP) once, in 2011. As best I can gather, the average starter in the KBO throws around 150 to 180 innings, making 25 to 30 starts, per season, often supplementing those starts with relief outings here and there.
When looking at Molina's numbers, its amazing how good he is, but it might be even more amazing as to how much better he is than the next best person, in every measure
Look at his passed balls and wild pitches on his watch (tied for the 2nd most catcher innings last year)

During the season I follow class A and up almost every day. Which is why I am so high on Odor as of now. Yeah, I know, that last sentence can lead to a number of jokes.
Jayzuz....he's amazing
I doubt he would be an improvement over any of our internal options
Unless he's willing to accept a minor league contract, with a ST invite, and we can stash him at AAA and evaluate him that way
