If they retain Andrus? Absolutely. Andrus is and for tge foreseeable future will be a better defensive ss than profar.
+1

If Andrus is already there, then how is he going to play SS?
All of this speculation is based on the premise that we have Profar, Andrus & Odor
That's right, I don't think we can automatically assume someone isn't traded.

I was always saying IF....and there are still a lot of IF's.
Point is, they play for the Rangers til they don't, so its all speculation based on the status quo
Murphy didn't get that memo last year...As jta said, they play for the rangers till they don't.
As jta said, they play for the rangers till they don't.
sure, but if someone is saying, no problem we'll just plug Profar in there...my point was, it will depend.
I didn't start the conversation about the future of 3rd base.
Back to that conversation from a couple days back about Cruz's numbers being in regression. It's possible he might have regressed a little defensively but offensively, I sure don't see any regression. All I really see is him bouncing back from a career low season. Just look at the past 3 seasons:
OPS
2011 .821
2012 .779
2013 .847
Career AVG .823
Posted his highest OPS in his last 3 seasons in 2013 and also note his OPS from 2013 is 10 points above his career average.
OBP
2011, .312
2012, .319
2013, .327
Career AVG .327
Posted his highest OBP in his last 3 seasons in 2013 and also note that he matched his career average.
BA
2011, .263
2012, .260
2013, .266
Career AVG .268
Posted his highest BA is his last 3 seasons in 2013 and on 2 points off his career average
PA/HR
2011, 17.69
2012, 26.75
2013, 16.88
Improved his home run rate from the 2011 season by almost a full plate appearance. Also note he posted his highest total for this n his most recent season.
PA/RBI
2011, 5.89
2012, 7.13
2013, 6
Fell off a about a tenth of a plate apperence on RBI rate since 2011 but improved by a full plate appearance from the 2012 season.
PA/SO
2011, 4.42
2012, 4.58
2013, 4.18
Striking out slightly more but still pretty near his usual totals, no real dramatic increase. Also may not be to significant given OBP improved.
Anyway, I just don't get how anyone can say Cruz's offensive numbers are regressing. If anything, he is at least staying about where was 2 seasons ago. He also has shown he can bounce back from a tough season. The past 2 seasons he showed he has the ability to stay healthy. Well, I say that assuming he would have stayed healthily the remaining 50 games he was suspended… so maybe not but he did go a while without injury causing him to miss significant time. I would bet Cruz still has 3-4 good seasons left in him. He isn't as much as a treat on the base paths, but that was really not his game in the first place.
I am pretty confident his time as a Rangers has expired and I am OK with it. I will miss him though and I definite think he still has the potential to make us regret not signing him. I personally appreciate everything he did for the organization and forgive him for his mistake before and possibly durning the 2012 season. I only wish him the best just please don't sign with a team in our division!
No, but you seemed to perceive the proposition of moving profar to third as quite preposterous.
Absolutely no way you move a (projected) elite defender, young SS to third base at such a young age, an incredible waste. 2nd is one thing, (it's still a waste) but third, no...that should never happen.
speaking about Profar of course.

I am big Cruz fan myself RD, I certainly appreciate everyting he's done with this team as well.
Like I said about Kinsler, thank you...it was a great run.
Your words, seems like you think its pretty preposterous
I said several days ago that Cruz's 2013 was a bounceback season, but the signs were there before then
Cruz is a bad investment, he's a DH who doesn't realize he's a DH and wants to be paid like he's still plus fielder
meh, I 'm not going to get into with you… have a good evening.
Indeed, I wish both of them the best of luck. Oh and by the way congrats on your catching them TD passed from your bro at AT&T. Thats awesome you got to go out on the field and play around.
