That's why I've always said, if Odor is the real deal and Andrus stays with the Rangers, then Profar probably is probably the one to move over when Odor is ready,

That's under the assumption that we still have all 3

I think that is the obvious outcome if they all 3 are still Rangers in a few years.

I still wager he's in for a position change to RF by the time he gets to AA.

Looking at the top 20 ML third basemen ... Chris Johnson (ATL), Ryan Zimmerman (WSN) and Pedro Alvarez (PIT) are 6'3". Joey Gallo is 6'5".

But a bigger issue regardless of where he plays are the Ks.

Yeah I don't think he stays at 3B long term, but thats where he is now

I think all of you are overthinking this "Yu will be unhappy if Darvish made less money than another Japanese pitcher" thing, its a different system and there's nothing Darvish or Tanaka can do about that

If it truly bothers Darvish, then work on your game, win a CY Young and opt out early and get the big money,

Pouting and pitching poorly will do nothing but hurt his next contract

Only if they were on the Rangers together. Tanaka pitching for another team will have no affect on Yu.

I'm talking about on the Rangers, its not absurd to think it could happen as it has before but I have SERIOUS doubts that it would have ever been an issue

Looking at those 10 guys only 5 are even average at this stage (would be nice if they included the fture projections like they do later on) and only 1 is even slightly above average at this point

Funny enough though, only Gallo has a below average hit tool right now (making contact)

It will be interesting to see how many stick long term as quite a few already have a position change in their future (Gallo, Sano, Bryant, Castellanos, Franco, Peterson), while a couple project to be "just fine" there

Amongst the current crop ... more likely Profar would move to third with Odor playing second.

It has been a long time since TEX developed a 2bman all the way from his signing. Profar, Kinsler and Young (via TOR system) ... all started out as shortstops.

Profar have the better arm, or are we looking what fits more offensively
just don't like the idea of wasting Profar's expected range, hence was hoping the position was something Odor could take over

But whatever I guess, we're covered assuming everyone lives up

Profar's range is expected to take a hit once he starts to fill out, so it becomes an issue of who has a stronger arm, and thats Profar, there's a reason Odor is and always has been a 2B

I have a feeling that a lot of names will fall of the board next week because tanaka signs this friday. We made a preliminary offer for tanaka, but at this point we arent being considered. I've been busy lately so I've been making the occasional post in the stars thread and leaving but ill try to get more active when things actually start unraveling

Tanaka --> Yankees. 7 years $155M. Done deal.

Damn. That's just too much IMO.

That is a TON of money. I hear there is an out-option, hope both teams can exercise it.

Nevermind, hope only Tanaka can exercise it. Want the yanks on the hook forever.

Since they announced today the numbers, I bet we hear a couple of FA pitchers signing today and tomorrow. No one wants to go into the weekend unsure (yeah I know FO stuff is 24/7 work) but they will want their new pitcher to be in the weekend news cycle.

I called it. Although I was pretty certain there were only 2 teams he would go to. Now they should start coming off the board

And Dodger fans and their FO let out a sigh of relief.

Just heard this...and lololololol. 22M/year is ridiculous for an unproven pitcher.

we are essentially doing 18M/yr for Darvish to the Yanks 25M/yr, but it has worked out very well. Maybe Tanaka does as well :noidea:

It is too much and he is in a pressure cooker of an environment. But he could prove us including me all wrong.

Wonder if I could find any Yankees fans who called the Yu signing stupid, because he is unproven and it is too much money. Wonder what their take on this is :)
