Yeah. Go ahead and insert somebody else if you wish. Lacy would be my favorite back in the draft, though.

It's been one hell of a ride tiger nation but I'm takin my talents to the next level #nfl

I don't know if others are tired of me saying it but sign me up for this guy as well. If he interviews/checks up well/ok, he'd be one of the guys I'd take in the 1st. I'd take him ahead of Allen, Patterson, and Austin, among others.

One of my favorite scenarios is adding both of those guys. Another one is I'm wondering how possible it'd be to move up for Hankins.

I just thought it was strange that he said Lacy was the top at his position as if it were a fact. The consensus - before the title game - was that Bernard was the top back. ESPN, draftbreakdown, Walter Football, Matt Miller, Optimum Scouting, and drafttek all had/have Lacy behind Gio. I think Lacy will be very good, but i just thought it was an odd tweet.

Daniel Jeremiah:

I spoke to several Stanford coaches about Fleener prior to 2012 draft. Every one of them said Ertz was their top TE. I agree 100 percent.

Ertz IS a better prospect than Fleener, and it isn't close IMO.

No way Pozz. The only DL I'm trading up for is Richardson. Although I will concede that he isn't exactly the brightest bulb in the box.

All those "experts" don't always have it right.

I'l tell, I've been reading what Pozz posts for the past 5 or 6 years (starting when we all would be on ESPN) and I'd take his opinion over most of those "experts".

The one that stands out when he made me a believer was when everybody was on a Brian Brohm hype early in the season and I kept seeing him write about this Matt Ryan kid from Boston College being his top qb prospect.

We all know how that turned out on draft day and beyond.

Pozz is the truth.

I'd rather have Hankins at this point, but Richardson would be a great pick at 32.

Either way, DL needs to be the priority in the offseason. That and another pass-rusher.

Richardson won't be anywhere near 32 once he sets the combine ablaze.

Just a small sample size of how much of a freak Sheldon is:

He's pretty much the only DL that Alabama couldn't control this entire year. If he wasn't an idiot he'd be the #1 player in the draft.

Oh, I agree. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll be a Saint or a Bear at 15 or 20. I still wouldn't trade up for him though (yet; I'm withholding jugement 'til the combine). I actually want the Niners to trade down. Hankins is tempting though.

IIRC, Richardson was a RB and a kick returner in high school. That should give you a good idea of how much of an athlete he is.

Trust me, I'm not debating Pozz. He knows his stuff I like reading from him. Lacy and Nuk are both great prospects. I wasn't questioning him I just thought the original tweet was a little odd considering most places I read don't have Lacy as their number 1 (some probably will after they update again.)

Hey Clyde, I just realized why you're right: Richardson is a MizzU Tiger DL. He's meant to be a 49er. :)

By the way, what do you think of my assertion that the Niners MUST draft Tyler Bray if he's there in the 2nd?

I think we need to focus on developing Kaep, and that doesn't mean wasting a 2nd pick on a backup QB. He can get guys who can actually contribute in the 2nd round.

If you have that much ammunition to move up that high in the draft (in terms of trade) why not simply get a player like Star at that spot?!

who do you see falling or who would be your realistic trade up target? considering we're coming from the #32 overall... :suds:

From the onset I said when it's all said and done with I wouldn't want to leave the 2013 NFL draft with no more than 7 new players. I believe as of today we have about a total of 13 or 14 picks entering the draft. If we don't package those picks and decrease the total amount of 2013 draft picks, most of these players would not make the 9ers team. Which means we wasted draft picks. I don't see how a SB winning team would have enough room to add 13 new players to their 53 man roster.

Well anyway, to answer your question: it would take a ransom to move down from pick #32 all the up to pick #10 (the other negotiating team would demand a future first from us, and I that is so not worth it at all). I don't see us being able to move up from #32 to pick #20 either. The highest possible spot we can end up IMO is at pick # 25 (from pick # 32). Hypothetically speaking though, let's say we were able to find a way to trade up and land at pick # 18 per se, I would want someone like Ansah or Patterson at that spot (assuming players like Mingo, and Warmack are off the board). Honestly, I am fine in staying put at pick #32, and I would settle for Austin at that spot if Patterson and Ansah are off the board.

Now the next day (rounds two and three) my mind set would be to trade as many late/mid round picks as possible to move up several times in the 2nd round and 3rd round. Of course with all those damn picks we have this year, my ultimate goal is for us to package them and come out with less picks. I would be happy with a whole bunch of second round picks and 3rd round picks. Poyer/Amerson/Marquess Wilson/Jenkins/Okafor/Logan Ryan and a whole bunch of very good safeties could all be available in rounds 2 and 3.

49ers 2013 picks
1. First round: Own pick
2. Second round: Own pick
3. Third round: Own pick
4. Third round: From Carolina in trade-back during 2012 draft
5. Third round: Likely compensatory selection
6. Fourth round: Own pick
7. Fifth round: Own pick
8. Fifth round: From Indianapolis in trade-back during 2012 draft
9. Sixth round: Own pick
10. Sixth round: From Miami in trade-back during 2012 draft
11. Seventh round: Own pick
12. Seventh round: From Cincinnati for Taylor Mays
13. Seventh round: Likely compensatory selection
14. Seventh round: Likely compensatory selection
