Eric Galko:

On Logan Thomas declaring: Heard its still possible. And with 2nd-3rd round likely, 3 good WRs leaving, I can certainly see the rational

I'd have interest in him as a developmental project on the 49ers.

Any ideas why? Has a senior bowl ever affected someone's stock who is as highly regarded as Cooper?

No reason given that I've been able to find. As far as what affect it'll have on his stock. Do you mean if he would have gone and played or what it might do to him that he's not going?

Yeah, I mean is there anyway his stock couldve fallen if he participated? Another possibility could be that he just wants to play in a different All-Star game idk?

Im not sure what "jazz" he is talking about unless he is waiting for the combine/pro day.

Any player's stock can fall at any point - all-star game, combine, pro day, interviews, off-the-field incidents/decisions, etc..

Had he shown up to the Senior Bowl and somebody had their season evaluation done on him and they saw him struggle with something(s) and then went back and did more work on him and saw that it was a knock on him during the season, then yes, that would be a way that he may find himself lower on team's boards. Stuff like that happens.

All that "jazz" is probably referring to the pre-draft process - combine, pro day, interviews, workouts, press events, etc..

It's unlikely he'll participate in any other game now that he's out of the Senior Bowl. It would be somewhat of a rarity for someone like him.

Gil Brandt:

Best player in the draft is Bama's Chance Warmack, but he won't go No. 1. Guards aren't valued that high. Should be though.

Dave Hogg:

Taylor Lewan is coming back to Michigan.

Lewan was told by the advisory board that he'd be a high first-round pick. "I'll play in the NFL, but I only have one more chance here."

Dang.

So, this is a "safe" decision for him?

Very interesting. Why even fill out the paper work to see what the board says? I also find it hard to believe he would go that early. I doubt he is the first one taken, he won't go before Warmack / Cooper. And it would probably be at least 15-20 plus picks before the second guard is taken.

I suppose some would argue that there's some safety in it. What I may have left out originally was that it can be beneficial to go down to Mobile and show yourself off as well. It's both. It's also very complicated from all sides, which is why I'm hesitant to say it's one thing to skip. It's really alot of things.

I was just about to make a similar respond to Sick's assessment of this draft as well. Jake Matthews is returning to school, yet, the OT line is still one of the better group of guys I have seen in a long time. The DL prospects are also quality NFL starters in the making. You don't have a premier ultra shutdown cornerback, but you there are a lot of solid players from that position as well. Let's not even mention how sick of a class the safety position is. I am in the minority here in believing that the QB class will produce a lot of "steals" with regard to where they are selected coupled with what they will end up doing in the league.

E.J. Manuel is one that I like. I've only watched 3 or 4 times over the past two seasons, but e just looks like a qb out there. I like the zip he put on the ball, I like his size, mobility, the way he holds the ball up high and he seems like he has pretty good touch. The touch part, again, was only with limited views. He's a player I want to watch this post season.

I don't see why you guys are upset Taylor Lewan isn't declaring. The Niners don't need a tackle in the first round this year. Wouldn't it be better him to go pro' NEXT season when there's a better chance they might be inclined to drafting a tackle?

Or is it that he would've pushed someone else 1 spot further further down the board?

That was my first reaction, and I'd guess the same for some others. But a team that likely IS interested in a top-level tackle this year is Arizona. St. Louis, too. So there's good and bad to it, I guess.

The Rams too if they're smart. They desperately need a stronger OL IMO.
