Kevin Minter - LB - Tigers

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks compared LSU ILB Kevin Minter to former San Diego Chargers LB Takeo Spikes.

"Kevin Minter and Takeo Spikes have similar games despite slight differences in body type... Both are rough and rugged defenders and have a knack of flowing to the ball. Minter, in particular, is a thumper in the middle, with a tremendous feel for warding off blocks and finding the ball," Brooks said. Minter is a potential fit for the Baltimore Ravens with the final selection in the first round.

Tyler Wilson - QB - Razorbacks

The Buffalo Bills attended Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson's pro day on Friday.

The Bills have shown interest in all of the quarterbacks this off-season and are bound to select one after cutting former starter Ryan Fitzpatrick earlier this off-season. "I think now is the time for us," General Manager Buddy Nix said. "You’re trying harder to make sure that you know every little thing. We’re turning over every stone to make sure we know all there is to know possibly about these players."

I call this, the JJ Watt effect! If it weren't for the year Watt had last year, teams wouldn't be so eager to target Hunt so early. I like Hunt, but not that much to gamble on him in the first:

Margus Hunt - DL - Mustangs

NFL.com's Gil Brandt tweets that he expects SMU DL Margus Hunt to go in the first round.

The comment comes as part of a thought that four foreign-born prospects could go in the first round. Brandt lists Hunt, Florida State tackle Menelik Watson and defensive end Bjoern Werner, and Brigham Young defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah as the four. He chose not to include Alabama defensive lineman Jesse Williams, who he thinks is more of a second- to-third round prospect.

Jesse Williams - DL - Crimson Tide

NFL.com's Gil Brandt writes Alabama DL Jesse Williams is not worthy of a first round selection.

This is an opinion that we don't share, as Brandt adds that Williams is more of a second- to-third round prospect. Williams is strong and agile despite his massive size. He shows flashes of being a quality two-gap defender and potential in handling double team blocks. He ran a 4.91 40-yard dash at his pro day on Wednesday and did 30 reps of 225 pounds at the combine.

Random note: I hope people are over the Datone Jones Senior Bowl hype by now. He's one of my least favourite 25-35 range prospects. He would be a very uninspired 1st round pick (like AJ Jenkins was).

NEVAH!!!!!! Datone Jones FTW!!!

no but seriously I actually believe he would be a really good/great eventual replacement for Justin Smith.

Barkevious Mingo - DL - Tigers

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah believes LSU pass rusher Barkevious Mingo is "a tough one" to evaluate.

"His closing burst is impressive but I don't see same juice in his get off," Jeremiah tweeted. "One of the most underrated aspects of pass rushers is the ability to finish. Mingo missed several lay-ups in my tape study." There are certainly questions with Mingo's game, but we wonder how much he was asked to contain with his pass rushing angles this season.

Mingo missed several lay-ups in my tape study
That made me chuckle, because that is so true about his game. I still love him though as a prospect. He disrupts plays by getting there in a hurry, if he misses a layup, I'm sure Aldon Smith would be able to due the cleanup with a backward dunk off of the rebound.

Duke Williams - DB - Wolf Pack

Nevada S Duke Williams "is an excellent force player," according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.

Williams "had several "wow" shots against run," Jeremia tweeted. "He will play early in nickel/dime/special teams." The Nevada product has experience against slot receivers and as a interchangeable safety in the back half. His attendance at the East-West Shrine and Senior Bowl should also help him.

Eric Reid - S - Tigers

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah "can't get excited about" LSU S Eric Reid.

"Love size/speed but he misses too many tackles and he's late off the hash too often," Jeremiah tweeted. This assessment comes after a five game study, which is actually very thorough compared to other prospect evaluations. Reid is an athlete, but teams will have to turn tools into a finished product.

Quanterus Smith - DL - Hilltoppers

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay believes Western Kentucky DE Quanterus Smith is "a name to remember."

Smith suffered a knee injury during the latter parts of the season but put up bulky sack numbers against some teams, specifically Alabama and FIU. His name certainly isn;t new to many, but because of the injury he might fall out of the top three rounds. "Could be a Day 3 steal as pass-rush specialist," McShay tweeted. "He can bend and close!"

Philly's top options at No. 4
March, 19, 2013 9:21AM ET
By Tim Kavanagh | ESPN.com

Based upon their usual success during the tenure of departed HC Andy Reid, the Philadelphia Eagles normally didn't find themselves with a pick as high as they've got this offseason -- No. 4 overall -- but from the viewpoint of the new administration, it's a nice luxury as they hope to jump-start the on-field product. We've heard them linked to a variety of players at a variety of positions thus far, but with free agency largely over, the prospects on whom they'll focus has crystallized somewhat.

"When you're at four it's a smaller pool of players that you're looking at with that pick. You're not looking at 10 players," GM Howie Roseman told the media at the NFL owners meetings, per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "You're down at this point to six or seven names."

Roseman didn't reveal his list of six or seven, naturally, but McLane has an educated opinion on who might make up the list: BYU DE Ezekiel Ansah, CMU OT Eric Fisher, Florida DT Sharrif Floyd, Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel, Oregon LB/DE Dion Jordan, Alabama CB Dee Milliner, and WVU QB Geno Smith. He also mentioned that LSU's Barkevious Mingo, Georgia's Jarvis Jones, UNC's Jonathan Cooper, Alabama's Chance Warmack and Utah's Star Lotulelei could enter the mix as well.

So, it's a big spread. Lot of different angles this one could take before the fateful night of Apr. 25.

Looking at the list above, if the Eagles take a pass rusher, what do people think about offering a late-round pick for Brandon Graham? I know there were some pretty big fans of him coming out. He's been pretty quiet as a pro, but might be worth a shot in a situational role.

New regime, and new defensive scheme. They probably don't even see him as part of their rebuilding/long term plan. In which case, I think he is a high candidate to be released - so I would certainly offer a 7th round pick for him. He is way behind in terms of deloping him to fit our scheme as a rush linebacker, so that is why I believe with this major risk Baalke wouldn't propose anything more than a 7th to see if they could get some production out of him. I'd bring him in to compete with Cam Johnson, Parys, and Fleming. We could give our 7th round pick, and we still have several picks (comps) in the 7th round to utilize on a prospect who as fallen that far (Greg Reid maybe, or a kicker??)

Sean Porter - LB - Aggies

Texas A&M OLB Sean Porter is working out for the Cowboys on Tuesday.

The work out is taking place at the school's campus. Porter's best seasons occurred when lining up as a pass rushing outside linebacker, but in 2012 he was utilized as an outside linebacker behind a four man front. We question Porter's athleticism, but he bends well around the edge and could find a role as a pass rushing specialist.

1. Jon Hankins, DT, Ohio State, Junior (6027, 320 and 5.25): Much improved in 2012, Hankins surprised no one when he came out early for the Draft as he was initially expected to be a top ten or fifteen selection. However, according to NFL sources we have spoken to, Hankins stock is not nearly that high now. No one doubts that he has physical strength to control blockers at the POA, the quick hands and athleticism to defeat man blocks and the speed to chase plays down in pursuit. However, the issues that are coming up around the league when teams discuss him is that he does not play with passion/intensity on every snap and has a bad habit of popping upright and losing leverage too often. You can never write off a rare physical specimen being over-drafted, but everything we are hearing points to a second or third round selection.

maybe we take this NT round 3, trade up to earlier in round 3?

That would be a steal if he lasted that long for us to get him in round 3. I would be ecstatic. I could certainly see him drop to our pick #34. In which I would be glad to make that selection at that spot.

Geno in play at No. 1?
March, 19, 2013 2:14PM ET
By Tim Kavanagh | ESPN.com

We've been hearing a lot of chatter over the past few weeks about several of the teams in the Top 10 of the draft order being interested in selecting WVU QB Geno Smith with their initial selection. Conspicuous by their absence in much of the discussion have been the Kansas City Chiefs. And based upon what new Chiefs HC Andy Reid indicated on Tuesday, that omission may have been a mistake.

"That doesn't mean Geno is out of the water," Reid mentioned in talking about the No. 1 pick, via Tim McManus of Birds 24/7. "I'm going to keep my eyes open on everybody. I think Geno is a good quarterback. We'll just see how it all goes, get this workout thing going."

In the same conversation with reporters, Reid confirmed that he'd had his eyes on Alex Smith as his next starting QB after taking over in K.C., debunking the Nick Foles rumors somewhat. But in indicating that his team is still considering Geno with their pick, Reid is hoping to make one of the QB-needy teams out there desperate enough to want to swap spots with him, sending some additional draft capital in Reid's direction. So while Geno may be in play at No. 1 overall, it's more likely that it would be another team taking him, as opposed to the Chiefs. In the end, Smith could slide down several spots, but his projection will continue to be the dominant storyline up until the night of Apr. 25.
