Is Braulio Lara really still in big league camp? Not sure why he would last longer than Ricky Romero, but hey.

And does anyone think that Trevor Brown could possibly break camp at the expense of Andrew Susac?

Lastly, how about the possibility that Ramiro Pena beats out Conor Gillaspie?

Great game at the Talking Stick today as the Gs hammered the Rocks. Blackburn pitched fine but had some mittfuckery behind him. I saw dingers by Belt and Green and big hits from MVP and Duffman. Strick also looked effective.

That's a wonderful stadium with free sunscreen to boot. :) Tomorrow the As come to Scotts.

Best venue in the Cactus league, IMO. I finally got to Surprise this year. Nice, but waaaaaaay out there.

Blanks is the biggest surprise to me. He was outlasted by Grant Green?

Well, Green doesn't have much of a chance to stick either. I think with Blanks, it was a matter of needing the ABs for guys who have a chance and also to get him to the minor league facility to try and get him healthy.

Dude is a beast, but his body betrays him.

I try and get early reservations at the Holiday Inn Express near the Surprise Stadium. And yes, from almost anywhere in the Phoenix area, Surprise is way the heck out there. Nice venue, though.

Maybe how they got their name? "Surprise! We get to travel a long way."

We usually stay at the Hilton Place in Old Town. Walking distance to Scottsdale Stadium and centrally located for trips to Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Talking Stick, Maryvale, etc.

I was impressed with Surprise. According to an usher I spoke with, it's only sold out once...about two years ago for the Chubbs.

With Surprise this year, I've now been to all 10 venues. By far, Talking Stick is the nicest. I haven't been to the renovated HoHoKam since the Chubbs left, but that place was a sty.

Peeved looked like Peeve--2 good innings and 2 bad. We did rock Latos!!!!

And BELTED. But youngsters gave up too much in a loss.

On to the nightcap...

Lefties with 98+ mph fastball don't grow on trees.

I think Brown makes it right now.

It's only Spring, but boy is it nice to see Pence back out there. 2 homers tonight. 5 this month.

I liked the quote from the D-Backs announcer: "Wrap him in bubble wrap and send him to San Francisco right now"

If I am not in Surprise, I stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Scottsdale, about 4 blocks from the stadium, right next to Lolo's Chicken and Waffles. Last spring, my son and I ate right next to the entire Dallas Mavericks team. The stadium is walkable from there. Used to stay at the hipster hotel just north of the stadium, but it is being renovated.

Here are my ST stadium rankings

1) Salt River Fields
2) Surprise
3) Camelback
4) Sloan Park (Mesa)
5) Scottsdale
6) Peoria
7) Diablo Stadium (Tempe)
8) Goodyear
9) Maryvale
10) Hohokam

Last fall for the Fall League, Surprise was closed for renovations. The Fall League usually uses the first six stadiums on the list.

Camelback, for being so new had some deficiencies. No cup holders or speedgun readout, a small scoreboard, and it's sun alignment was a bit off.

Extra inning game last night after Broadway gave up a game tying 3 run BOMB :( We did get to Rubby early tho.

Pence is ENFUEGO.

Hey TZ you were right about our CF. Span-The-Man is legit!!!

Blach gave a run every inning but Stratton looked sharp.

Cain is scheduled to pitch today. YES! C'mon Horse, do us proud.

You are right about some of Camelback's deficiencies. The positioning (re: the sun) is odd. It seems to work for the players, but not for the fans. Incredible that there are 17 diamonds at the Camelback complex. All the Dodger diamonds have the dimensions of Dodger Stadium, and all the White Sox diamonds have the dimensions of their yard. The main stadium has sort of generic dimensions.

And Pence really is on fire! Let the season begin!

Was just looking at the updated minor league transactions page on Baseball America and they list Stratton as having been optioned to triple A but I didn't see that anywhere else. Was Stratton just up for a spot appearance or has not really been optioned yet?

I think Brown makes it right now.

I'd expect the Sac to start the season on the DL, but the news yesterday was encouraging (he's feeling better).

Man, I hope this wrist thing isn't chronic.

7. Camelback
8. Goodyear
9. Tempe Diablo
10. HoHoKam

Sounds like you're enjoying the valley.

I agree about Camelback...it seems they cut corners on that stadium. Have you seen how fast Gorkys is?

Yes I'm enjoying the Valley. I spent 3 yrs at Luke AFB so it's always fun to return.

I was at the Wildlife World Zoo in the morning before the camelback game and then finished the day w/2 games. What could be better? Hmm well maybe Turkey.

I'm so stoked to be able to see Cain pitch today!!

I hope to hike up either Camelback Mt or Squaw Peak (Piestewa Peak) before I leave.

Oh and I have not seen Gorkys show off his speed yet
