I think part of the problem is that a lot of QBs these days really hate being under center. They don't feel comfortable doing it.

Also, play action doesn't work nearly as well after you ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down for no gain.
Unless you're a running QB or Patrick Mahomes, I would understand not having them under center...

... or maybe Geno's just not as good under center... (aka... botched fumble under center yesterday)

Wait....

I'm lost. What about Geno are we talking about?

Asking because of how much my blood pressure is going to go up during my usually every 2 week Monday nerd out?

That he needs to stop turning the ball over, doesn't seem to play under center very well which could benefit his playaction (Seattle is currently #4 in the league on playaction attempts), and he's fairly average as a QB and isn't going to win you a game like Mahomes, which basically everyone on this forum gets, but we're stuck with him for now and there's no better option at the moment.

At least he didn't miss a wide open JSN again lol.

In other news, Denver won but the Saints lost... I'd prefer both lose but if I had to pick one to win it'd be Denver. Helps our draft pick from the Saints (we'd get that one if the season ended today) and keeps the Saints not interfering too much with the wild card.

I mean.. average. And again, you asked what everyone was talking about and I said most folks on this forum think he's an average/mediocre QB.

I think he's slightly above average and we could do worse, but at the same time Geno is missing some throws and looks that would result in more convincing wins. He started off last year quite good, but started to get more turnover prone as the season went on and that is kind of translating to this year as well...

Yes the OL has been beat up, but let's not forget the weapons/tools the guy has to work with. I know we're 4-2 but we've played some TERRIBLE teams outside of probably the Lions (still not convinced Burrow is 100%). We could go from 4-2 to 7-10 real quick. The defense is vastly improved over the last few weeks but the offense is leaving a lot of points on the field. I can't blame Geno on that entirely.... but he certainly is a part of the reason.

They kept showing Geno's stats when not pressured. He is one of the best QBs in the league when not pressured.

But he definitely struggles, a lot, when pressured. He doesn't have the elusiveness of some of the top QBs. And when the OL is really faltering, it makes the offense look really pedestrian. Let's not forget that we are still playing 2 rookies and a 2nd year man on the OL. We are asking a lot of them. They have largely been better than we could have expected given the injuries. But we are still giving up too much. Hopefully we get Abe back soon.

Rather than focusing on the negative, I would like to talking about how this team was -3 in the turnover battle and STILL won by 20. Thanks in large part to the defense going from bad in week 1 to pretty good in week 4 to arguably a top 10 defense the past 2 weeks. Still a few things to work out but that's something to get excited about, especially when you consider how young the defense is.

Won by 10, but I get you. Also, Witherspoon should've had that INT. That roughing the passer on Mafe was 100% bullshit.

To me there are 2 kinds of Good.

Efficient good

And

Everyday good.

Geno is Efficient good. Doesn't take alot of deep shot mistakes or Deep all together.

Efficient good is better for me because go to pad yard numbers, you make mistakes

Agreed. Looked alot worse then it was, Thanks Edwards, but still blow to the head.

What annoyed me yesterday was we were the far superior team. We should have won by 20-30 but 10.

The penalties in general have been a real killer. The Mafe call was tough but expected. More bad luck than bad play. The Woolen illegal contact was complete BS.

The league really needs to take a hard look at the roughing the passer personal fouls. There are so many that are basically incidental contact with zero risk of injury to the QB. Having said that, if they didn't hit Mafe with a "blow to the head" which it really wasn't, they could have flagged Mario Edwards for lowering his head and spearing the QB.Not sure if that is in the rulebook but it is far more dangerous than phantom head shots that barely graze the side of a helmet, imo.
The flag on Woolen that took away Witherspoon's sack was a farce.

So true... People refer to it as a "blow to the head" but it was more like a graze, imo... The only reason it looked worse than it did was Edwards hit in the side of the QB that caused Mafe's hand to come down on the QB's head... How is Mafe supposed to avoid that because his hands are up to try to bat down the pass... They definitely need to tweak the rule a bit in favor of the defense... He was hit in the head, so I understand the call but it was a weak one at that...

Yeah, I couldn't believe they called that... Wouldn't it had been a double digit loss in yardage type of a sack? Can't remember but Dobbs would've lost quite a few yards on that sack...

Great take away is that we played the game w/out any injuries... Nwosu has a bit of a pec injury but Carroll mentioned he shouldn't miss any games but overall Carroll said that they didn't have any significant injuries...

For sure. Barring some practice injury, we may just have Cross, Lewis, Brown, Haynes back next week. 4 out of 5 starting OL!? Who would've thunk it!?

Pete Carroll Post game interview for those that would like to listen...

Listening to Carroll at the 11:38 mark talk about Geno seems like they had addressed a few of the things we saw yesterday in Training Camp... For example, that pass that was picked off, he mentioned that they had discussions about not doing that when a play breaks down and there is no flow to the play... Just get rid of it and eat is what he was taught... Like all of us, Carroll didn't see too happy about that play..
