Right now Howell and Slovis.

But having an actual, full College Football season will end up shaking that up a lot.
Rattler may jump them all, jt daniels hype train, brock purdy also.

Think those three are three that are firmly gonna be there. Howell will be. Slovis played awful last year. Had some good games two years back, well see on him.

Im in the minority here. Ive touted kellen mond at times elsewhere. I really would like to get gim. Think hes going round 2. Hes getting late hype.

He had an interview on the fan yesterday. Stellar interview.

this is assuming they are drafting ine anyways.

but i dont think we draft one.
I don't think we draft a QB either unless one of the top five slip to our pick at 24 and it's a guy they like. The more and more I think about it I do think they are going running back in the first round. I'm good with any of the top 3. And honestly, I think I'm okay with the pick since OL is deeper in this class.

Kellen Mond... I like him. More than most I think. But I don't want the Steelers to spend a second on him if they are going RB in the first. I don't want to wait till the third to start fixing that OL. My biggest concern with Mond is he seems a little "gun shy" which usually leads to a QB being more of a game manager than a championship-level QB. I like his chances of getting past that and improving but right now that's my big concern.

Better. And a different game.
Comparing their senior years

Mason Rudolph 2017 - Oklahoma St

4,904 yds passing
489 att, 65% cmp
Y/A - 10
37 TDs
9 Ints
Rating - 170

Kyle Trask 2020 - Florida

4,283 yds passing
437 att, 68.9% cmp
Y/A - 9.8
43 TDs
8 INT
Rating - 180

Trask looks marginally better... but honestly he looks like the same player based on stats. Haven't watched the film on Trask, but honestly everything I've read says he's just another career backup.

Yeah, but you know very well that stats, especially in college, dont tell a ton. If so every texas tech and hawaii qb would he hall of famers.
Im not saying hes a stud. Im saying he has more potential than rudolph

Well of course. Rudolph was once touted as a top 5 QB in his class... Luckily the scouts knew better than the media lol.

I just don't see nearly as much hype for Trask as I did for Rudolph back in '17... Of course there's always the potential to disprove everyone, but I'm very pessimistic about him.

Im not enthralled with trask at all, just more than mason lol.

media is usually very wrong. The general board is littered with folks who strictly follow the talking heads.

Nothing more than being enticed by the "unknown"... Since we already know what we get with Mason. And it ain't "it".

The people I follow online, whom are 'more reliable' sources than major media outlets, all say the same about Trask.

Didn’t take it as a dig. Just didn’t want you to think I was only listening to people on the hoop.

Honestly I don't think they can say that they have a plan yet. We know they are committed to Ben for 1 more year. I don't think we'll know what the plan is until Ben leaves. Given the cap room they are expected to have, next year seems like a good year to go all-in on a new QB. And I fully expect Matt Canada to have a heavy hand in making that choice, whenever that may be. I think most of that cap room will be eaten up rather quickly seeing so few actually under contract, but also TJ Watt is set to get $25-30m per. Hopefully the new TV deal vaults the cap back up into the stratosphere to help out.

Just a hunch... But I have a feeling we will see at least 1 year of Mason struggling (2022?) before they move in a different direction. They seem fully committed to Mason.

Whatever they do, I just pray that they do "enough" this offseason & next to fix the O-line and make the transition easier.

i agree on the there is no plan. I think its gonna be a few thing. They may even bring back for another year after this. But they think that going into next year with, actually less than last year talent wise , most likely....that hopefully things work out slightly better......wishful thinking most likely, we'll see.

In the interim, lets see what mason does again in camp and practice. From some of the beat writers I keep listening too, especially bouchette, it seems there may be a growing sentiment they know mason isn't it. They also really wanna see if they can get lucky with haskins, which, heck maybe they can. If they do, both would be cheap for another contract. Thats plan 1. Otherwise, reset, FA vs draft, figure it out next year.......I think they have more interest in seeing what haskins can do if he keeps his head on straight, than they do in mason.
