So who do we go after if not Ryu?I don't trust him. He is injured too much and he has made his reputation in Dodger Stadium.
I want to spend, but I want to spend wisely.

He fills a need until Jung is readyHe ties up our money so we can't go after guys who can contribute when our window opens.
More importantly, he ties up money that can't be spent on someone else that could be here longer. He fills a need until Jung is ready
I do want to be better in 2020 and then better in 2021 than 2020 and better in 2022 than 2021 and onwards. That should be the planMore importantly, he ties up money that can't be spent on someone else that could be here longer.
If this was 2010 and there was no Beltre available and Donaldson was available then I would love to have him. He just isn't a fit to me based on the timeframes of his contract and our window.
I don't want to be better in 2020 if it keeps us from being better when it is much more important to be better.
I do to, but it has to be done right.I do want to be better in 2020 and then better in 2021 than 2020 and better in 2022 than 2021 and onwards. That should be the plan
What if's can't rule your decision- making process. If you follow that kind of thinking you'll always be days late and dollars short and never give yourself a chance. You will always be waiting for that window to open that you keep posting aboutI do to, but it has to be done right.
Suppose we had signed an older free agent to a lot of money in 2008 and that kept us from going after Beltre or being able to afford a half year of Cliff Lee. Also suppose that older FA played more like the Cabrera of 2019, in 2011. There would have been no WS for us in 2010 or 2011. We would have been better in 2009 though.
That isn't so at all. What if's can't rule your decision- making process. If you follow that kind of thinking you'll always be days late and dollars short and never give yourself a chance. You will always be waiting for that window to open that you keep posting about
That’s not that great of a thing. The one good thing about signing Donaldson would be that it forces management to make a decision on Solak at 2B.
Why?That’s not that great of a thing.
FO should build proactively vs reactivelyWhy?
Me either but seems no one wants to discuss it. (contracts)Think we should build a team incrementally and pay those who are cornerstones. I don’t mind moving Minor for a good player. Also do not like long contracts to aging players over 30 especially now
FO is tardy in dealing with the situation already. It would force them to deal with a situation that they are afraid to face.FO should build proactively vs reactively
You are so wrong. I do not want to be better next season at any cost as you put it. I want us to be better next season and the season after it and the season after that. That isn't so at all.
You are so obsessed with improving next year that you are willing to do so at any cost. To me that is just not a smart way to go about it. That doesn't mean I don't want to have a better team next year, I think I was first on the Rendon bandwagon, I am just not willing to rob the better future to make a mediocre 2020 a little better.
Donaldson is most likely going to be a liability in 2022 when we very well may be ready to go places. And you know he would start everyday anyway.
I assumed Donaldson would be a liability in year 3 of the contract. Rendon at that same age would be in year 7 of his. And actually, Rendon would start his 7th year 6 months younger than when Donaldson would start his 3rd year. That gives us several years where his being good coincides with when our window should open. You are so wrong. I do not want to be better next season at any cost as you put it. I want us to be better next season and the season after it and the season after that.
You assume that Donaldson will be a liability before you even give him a chance. Well let's assume that it will take a 6 or 7 year contract to get Rendon, what's to say that he won't be a liability the last 2 or 3 years of that contract. By your reckoning we should avoid signing any player or at least only sign them to a 1 or 2 year contract
What you want conflicts with itself if it includes signing a guy Donaldson's age to a three year deal. You are so wrong. I do not want to be better next season at any cost as you put it. I want us to be better next season and the season after it and the season after that.

5 yr is long enough. Have not heard anyone wanting 6/7.You are so wrong. I do not want to be better next season at any cost as you put it. I want us to be better next season and the season after it and the season after that.

It will take 7 years to sign Rendon and he would turn 36 in the middle of his seventh year. I have no problem with that at all.5 yr is long enough. Have not heard anyone wanting 6/7.
