If we pick up Donaldson we had better ship Odor somewhere because I think that could be a volatile situation and there would be no place for Solak.
Agree. We need to ship out Odor and Choo with whatever money it takes to get the deals done. I know Choo can block any trade but we need to find some incentive to encourage him to accept the trade.
That's easy. Trade Choo and take the savings from not paying all of Choo's contract and add the $8 million to that amount. Then go shopping with that.

even if we can convince Choo to accept a trade we are going to have to eat at least 50% of his salary to get it done so we save maybe 10M. personally I would like to see us get Rendon but I don't think we can compete with other teams for him. maybe we should consider Donaldson, Ryu, Wacha, Arnaud and Diekman as FA targets and trade Choo, Odor, Mazara, Mendez, Sampson & Jurado etc for a CF and prospects
There is no reason we cannot be competitive in the Rendon sweepstakes. He may choose somewhere else to play, but there is no reason that money should be the holdup.

Oh I agree about staying in the game for Rendon but I'm also pragmatic enough to recognize that money won't be the be all end all for him so also be active toward Donaldson so we don't end up empty handed
As a above average 3B who can fill the 2 or 3 years until Jung is ready I can live with him. Especially if he is the best of those left. I don't want more experiments like Cabrera etc
Why wait until our "window opens" as you put it? Signing Ryu etc addresses a present need and fills a need until those "prospects" are ready in the 2 or 3 year gap between now and the window opening
I don't trust him. He is injured too much and he has made his reputation in Dodger Stadium.
He ties up our money so we can't go after guys who can contribute when our window opens.
