we are supposed to be a running team and hunt is one of the top backs in the league, he would be a huge upgrade and still very cheap for a few years.

even if he does get booted from the league or suspended six games, what do we have to lose?

As much as I like Hunt, and I think his accusation of "assault" is way overblown if you watch the video,

Agree with that 100%... There was no intent to harm her from what I saw.. I don't condone what he did by any means but I believe every male journalist is afraid to call that out... This country has pretty much put duck tape over the male voice in this nation...

Honestly, even with the 6 game suspension basically ending his season this year - I wouldn't mind stashing Hunt on the roster and holding him for next year. I can't say I like the situation - but I'm also not a fan of instant destruction to a person for one incident. If more come - then there's a issue, but I don't see things like this as life defining.

He does have another pending issue with punching some guy in face

Didn;t know that one - so yeah, would have to look closer, then.

So 6 right now with this problem and my guess could be another 4 unless the NFL wants to make an example out of him.

Hunt is talented sure, but he seems like someone that would be best to stay away from. Just too many issues.

This weekend went pretty dam well for us. We win, which was most important, but GB, Minny, and Carolina all lost. Perfect. Now if the Skins lose that will be the cherry on top for this weekend.

So mouthy guys are a bridge too far for our team, but a guy who kicks at a woman while she's on the ground. AOK.

Fuck, that's sadly funny.

I don't think he should have kicked her, but lets be real about this. As far as "assaults" go this was pretty dam tame. Suspend the guy for a game or two and move on. That's what the league should do. But this craziness of over reacting to every minor infraction or even just words that people say needs to be tempered down a bit. Society has collectively lots its dam mind in the past few years with its over dramatic, over sensitive, reactions to stuff like this. No way should Hunt lose his career over that incident. 1000's of people get in tiny altercations every weekend just like the one Hunt was in, and for the most part they don't lose their jobs and careers over it. I don't know why Pro athletes should be held to such a higher standard. Especially since people fuck with celebrities on purpose just to get reactions like Hunts. I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished, but c'mon, how about have the penalty fit the crime?

Talk to a cop about domestic abuse calls they go out on every weekend.

Get back to me.

Sure, I don't dispute that at all. Some DV cases are insanely brutal. But in Hunt's case we can see what he did and honestly, I didn't think it was that horrible. He gave her a "get the fuck away from my girlfriend" shove to her shoulder. And then when she got knocked over later on (not by Hunt), he walked over and gave her a half-assed kick to the thigh. This wasn't Ray Rice in the elevator kind of violence. Like I said, he should be penalized, maybe 1 or 2 games but not much more. Hunt is making about $650k this year. 2 game cheques would cost him about $80 thousand dollars. I think between the public backlash, the team firing him, and if he were to essentially be fined $80k by missing a couple games that would be sufficient penalty. Lord knows if you kicked your girlfriend as hard as Hunt did, and it went to court their isn't a judge on the planet that would order you to pay $80k in fines and force you to be fired from your career forever. I'm just saying we need to keep some perspective and keep let the punishment fit the crime. Just because he's a pro athlete it doesn't mean he ought to pay 20x (or more) the penalty that the average guy on the street would pay for the exact same offense.

There's definitely some of this I can agree with. Specifically, I do agree that sometimes your average anonymous civilian sees a target of opportunity in a celebrity and/or a person they know has lots of money. Reputation can be impactful in that person's ability to continue to make all that money, so they are likely more willing to pay to make it go away. They also keep a lifestyle that can be attractive to someone who otherwise wouldn't have access to it. Athletes can be vulnerable that way, especially the ones who maybe aren't exactly Mensa material.

And we certainly have become more sensitive to DV in recent times. Maybe even hyper-sensitive in some cases. While our political discourse continues to feature cries for "gender equality" we seem to want to punish offenders much more depending on what kind of reproductive organs the "victim" has. To a large degree, I think we have become a society of victims.

But I do think guys like Kareen Hunt should be held to a higher standard. The reason is because pretty much everywhere he goes, people know he's an NFL player for the KC Chiefs (well, used to be I suppose). Everything he does reflects on those organizations, so they have a vested interest in how he advertises their brands. This is not the case for pretty much everyone who works at Home Depot, Amazon, Boeing, etc. After someone gets off shift at Home Depot and takes off their glorious orange apron, they blend into the crowd and maintain their anonymity. Doesn't work that way for Russell Wilson, Kareem Hunt, Kevin Durant, etc. It comes with the territory with you are famous and live your life largely in the public eye.

I hope we steer well clear of him.

I can't disagree with this. I also want to steer clear of Hunt, but more because we don't need him than because of this incident. What he did was stupid, but he didn't hurt that woman at all. He didn't beat the shit out of her like Rice did. I think we (as a society) need to be careful of this "one size fits all" kind of justice. Using the same word of "assault" for what Hunt did compared to what Rice did blurs the lines and gives a false representation of the truth of the severity of both cases. Forget these NFL cases for a moment. In today's world someone can claim you "assaulted" them if you just touch them, or they can say they were "assaulted" by your words. It's fucking crazy. You are 100% correct when you said we've become a society of victims.

this is the textbook definition of "social justice". abandon all pretenses of blind and equal justice, punishments will be handed out solely based on who the offender is and who the victim is. in this case, the offender is male and is thereby 100% guilty and deserving of having his livelihood put to death without trial, appeal, or second chances.

nevermind that the woman attacked him first, that little fact needs to be swept under the rug.

does he deserve a second chance? yes, and i would be happy to be the team to give him that second chance.

I think it's also important not to conflate "equal justice" under the law with actions taken by an employer to address behavior that is detrimental to the organization and/or contrary to agreed upon terms of employment.

And now the justification of why 'social justice' ain't fair. (it ain't JUST!) The irony may spin the world off its axis.

Getting back to the "controlling the destiny" discussion, right now according to 538's modeling, the Hawks have an 86% chance to make the playoffs after yesterday's win in combo with losses by most of the other teams in the hunt. By contrast, Vikings 57%, Cowboys 81%, Eagles 21%, Redskins 41%, Panthers 16%, and...…….GB 1%!!

Not a sure thing by any stretch, but it's hard not to like our position right now in a year that was supposed to be more losing than winning.

This is true when it comes to cases like this if you are a male and downplay this in any level you will be blasted online and next thing you know you are on leave without pay.

Honestly from what I saw on the tape that woman wanted to fight and be in the confrontation she had no business being there as soon as hunt left inside the room. I am not saying he shouldn't be punished and I have a lot of respect for the chiefs for releasing him because he apparently lied to them but this should be a few games suspended and some court date with a misdemeanor charge and some community service hours in the offseason.
