Possible Bruce picked up the bad habit of signing older "established" guys from his dad. I do remember the over the hill gang. And seems like Bruce favors other peoples past stars over developing our own past the first round picks for the most part.

George brought the Ramskins baby. Pardee, Baughn, Pottios and one of my all time favorite Redskins Diron Talbert.

So if it was left up to me here would be my plan:

Sign Navorro Bowman - he led the Raiders in tackles in 10 games with 89 tackles. That was 11th best in the league in those 10 games

Draft Vea or Payne. We are stout up the middle with these two moves and re-signing Brown.

Draft a running back in round 2 and then they have to find another WR.

I would absolutely love to somehow get Mike Pouncey and the Honey Badger toss in either Richardson or Logan and I'm a happy guy!
we dont have the money for that . unfortunately we lost a good young cb and a 3rd rounder that limits the ability to address needs

richardson is going to be a viking , badger will cost 11 mil according to early reports , we are looking to bring JR back and byron maxwell has been contacted along with DRC

so without restructures and cuts it wont happen

so shark , i have been looking at sportstrac , and it lists mr smith as only a 17 mil cap hit . his contract is 55 mil guaranteed at sign , 71 mil in guarantees and 94 mil total . so if i am correct that means these salaries are back loaded thus putting future cap space in a bind . am i right ?

They have not released the real numbers yet. I figure they should be out some place by Monday.

But yea you are correct in that its a backloaded deal if Smith only counts $17M against the cap this year.

Im still thinking his real cap number this year comes in between $23.5 and 26 this year to avoid backloading. But as the move was more about getting away from Kirk, back loading this thing to have room to play with this year is not out of the question.

Wrong on avg cap goes up 10 to 12 mill a year so if Alex contract is for 5 years we will gain 50 mill in cap space in 5 years help soft the blow

and the cost of player salaries doesnt increase coach ? sammy wadkins at 16 mil a year is a huge increase in pay . what about some of these huge o/line contracts , . didnt you predict 13-16 mil for scherrf ?

Again I will ask, why is this an acceptable answer for Smith, when two months ago this was unacceptable??

well , that might be true and 2 of those guys i could stomach but i dont see how we move into being a consistent winner of we keep letting good players leave and trading for age and signing age .

We will agree to disagree.

My take, Dan and Bruce were never going to give him a real offer to consider signing because at the end of the day they didnt want him here. Funny how they are all for looking forward NOW after spending the past five years looking back to 2012 and wondering.. what if.

we had plenty of choice on KC if it was handled correctly and took care of in 2014 or 2015 . the skins set the market with the tags and but throwing him under the bus last season that was the nail in the coffin

he would have signed if he was treated right
