Working with my wood
I'm assuming this is at the time the games were played. Exactly why Franklin scares me as an X's and O's guy.
50-23 is a crazy stat.
53-20 would have meant 3 more NC's.

Well there's quite a few coaches on that list that have showed to be pretty good coaches despite a loss. The problem with a list like this is that it lacks context. For example, Brady Hoke's numbers aren't that good, but........he spent most of his time as a head coach at Ball State. A place where it is about as hard as a place it is to win as a school can get, and doesn't play too many top 25 teams (except as a whipping boy). However, back in 2006, while they ended up losing to top 10 ranked Michigan, the Brady Hoke lead Ball State squad put up a damn good fight. So considering the talent gap, he showed even back then he is a pretty good coach, even in a losing effort.
Why 2008 and not 2007?I wish the stat geeks who came up with this had sense enough to use end season rankings. It's pretty stupid to credit Bama with a win over #9 Clemson in 2008 for instance, when they finished the season unranked. Bama is 18-9 vs end-season top 25 AP, 2008-present.
I am guessing you mean scared as in afraid Franklin will fail. I wouldn't worry too much about that if I were you. Yeah he only beat one ranked team but remember we're talking Vanderbilt.I'm assuming this is at the time the games were played. Exactly why Franklin scares me as an X's and O's guy.

And yes, cfbstats.com is supremely excellent, I agree. The supremely excellent CFBStats.com does have record against teams ranked in the AP Poll at the end of the year going back to 2007, however.

Try to keep up. Team Speed Kills compiled the list. It's much better than your stupid list which counts bookoodles of teams that didn't even finish the season ranked.
