Okay, found it
Opponents' Time of Possession
2010: 31:33
2011: 28:03

Obviously, the Niners' offense helped the defense out this year, but I do not know if 3 minutes and 30 seconds on average played a major role in the reduce number of tackles, so I would say a combination of this and the others mentioned. Didn't Goldson play up on the line last season?

Oh well, I just wanted to add another perspective.

How about this?

In 2011 the 49er defense was on the field for 974 plays. In 2010 we allowed 1033. Over 16 games there were 59 more plays other teams ran in 2010 than 2011. That's less than 4 plays per game.

Goldson also didn't play in the first two games of 2011.

However, iguana said that Goldson will have less than half the season in 2012 than he did in 2011.

I've disagreed. Given that you are countering my points, I assume you agree with iguana. How does any of this support the theory that Goldson, in 2012, will be less than half the player he was in 2011?

So because of these factors, Goldson in 2012 will have less than half as an effective season as he had in 2011?

Ah, I missed where you got "half the season" because I skimmed his post on Whitner and Goldson. Actually, I completely missed that comment on "half". I thought you two were discussing his output this season compared to the previous one. I was just trying to explain the drop off in tackles.

Since it is clear now what you were discussing, no I do not think because of those factors Goldson's numbers will be drastically worse than this past season.

So expand on your comment. How will he have less than half the season he had last year?

for one he won't go to the pro bowl. i also think if he gets a long term deal, in a year the team that signs him will regret it.

he's too reckless and benefited greatly from the talent of this team. he would be better as a ss in most systems.
