All those numbers are skewed because of lack of uniform talent, poor shooting, and volume shots.
The average team in the 1960s took 30% more shots per game than a team in the 1990s
Worse, the standard deviation from average Win Shares is off the charts in the 1960s.
No other decade wandered so far in standard deviation of Win Shares.
It flatlined back to normal once the leagues merged and talent was better distributed in the mid 70s.
but it means in the 1960s a few teams had great player, and the rest of the league were scrubs.
