What was Barry's injury? Broken heart/spirit?

It was asked about injury or circumstance...... I can guess that if circumstances were different berry might have continued or had a longer career, Not sure what the surprise is there

If it's just supposed to be about injury The original Post should just say injury.

Sure. If we're going to put players with different franchises, this is going to open up the floodgates.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that...we all know that where a player is drafted can have a lot to do with how successful his career is. Tom Brady has said that he believes that if he were drafted to a team where he had to play right away, he'd have been out of the league pretty quickly.

Then my choice is Tom Brady. I'm sure the Cardinals or Bears could've ruined him nicely.

It can be circumstances as well...maybe he's saying if Barry ever got to play with better talent around him than the Lions had?
That's getting pretty far away from the OP isn't it? Lotta guys would have been interesting to see play on teams with more help.

As was said, previously on this thread, Bobby Orr’s left knee.

The things he did on one leg, boggles the mind if you think what he could have done if he had two perfectly good ones.

And Bo Jackson is my number two.

Both those guys walk around today on synthetic body parts.

sonny jurgenson from blowing out his Achilles in 72

He was already 38 years old by then. He played behind Van Brocklin for a few years to begin his career and then never had a team with the Skins until he was in his mid 30s when Lombardi took over and then Allen. Best of his era imo... best passer for sure.

Koufax immediately jumped to my mind. He was only 30.. at the top of his game and had been in a class by himself for several years.

They would have had a better shot than with Kilmer for sure. I never understood what Allen saw in him or the QB "controversy" between him Sonny.

Sam Cassell 03/04 playoffs. Not a guarantee they take the series from the Lakers if he plays, but you have to figure it would have been close. Even if they win they would need to beat the Pistons still.

Ultimately it likely changes nothing, but it opens a whatif of KG winning a championship with the Wolves, and I like that thought very much.

Not as fast as the Lions. We had two all time greats in Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson quit football while still at the peak of their game because, well, the Lions.

If I had that kind of power there is a long list of things that would happen first.

Honestly - I would waste my vote to undo Kobe Bryant's injury so that he played his entire career without injury

Runner up would be to undo Shawn Livingston when he was playing for the Clippers - he never was the same again

Third might be Karl Malone because then the Lakers would have 18 championships

They lost in the finals though - I think he went down -

The 40-year-old Malone's quest to win an NBA championship failed as the Lakers were defeated in five games by the Detroit Pistons in the 2004 NBA Finals. Malone sprained his right knee in game three and played injured in games three and four before missing the fifth and final game of the series.

Ah Game 3.

When the imploding Lakers couldn’t even manage to score 70.

Malone wasn’t gonna be enough to change that series. You lost 2/3 when he played anyway.
