There has been a lot of talk on here for a couple of years about Huff having to move to 1B. Prior to now it was always because folks wondered if he could play the position in the big leagues due to his height or other factors. Now he is blocked from catching, so the logical alternative would be having him play 1B. That way he wouldn't be left to rot on the bench.

One thing that everyone seems to think is Heim is our starting catcher since Garner is not active. Why is that? Why not trade Heim vs Huff and bring in another catcher. Don't really like that but just throwing it out there in order to keep Huff. He has more versatility than Heim.

I would prefer that myself, but the Rangers seem to prefer Heim.

We have more that might be at that position anyways.

No, nothing would happen before the deadline, unless a contender had a longterm injury to a 1B prior to then.

By the way, Huff not being able to play 1B if need be, is why I disliked acquiring Lowe so much. Then, there is the matter of the prospects we gave up for Lowe.

so do i. we need to look at what our future needs that aren't going to be answered by our prospects and then use some of areas of excess to fill the few needs

Right now he doesn't have any primary role. So, it is like they have given up on him in that way already.

don't see it that way. he is the best catcher we have and on the 40. instead of releasing someone right now and adding a lower level catcher prospect who doesn't fit into our future plans stick with the plan. just give them both playing time.
