i don't. he's a DH. he can't throw at all. i think Saddles is suggesting we trade either Heim or Huff and bring in someone who supposedly would get to play daily at another position. and bring some worthless catcher who can sit on the bench and contribute little or nothing in
Don't like that idea although I believe it is not beyond FO to do it.

i hope our FO has grown beyond these kinds of moves and doesn't do it. they just need to ensure that Heim and Huff both get sufficient playing time

David Garcia can be activated if necessary. Bet he is better arm wise thanks what we have.
Other option is just to keep Huff up and do nothing We could get a scrub and waive someone which is not smart IMO
A trade for another good catcher just is not something I can wrap my head around

he could be but it would move clearing a 40-man spot

I know that is why you stand pat for now IMO

Love to see something written where Garver is not planning on catching the remainder of the year

If he is not in the equation, how can we trade a catcher? Would leave us with Huff or Heim withe no back up.
There are other catchers to either bring up or acquire for not much. We got Heim and a decent pitching prospect for Elvis. We have traded or picked up several catchers over the past few years. We have 3 or 4 guys in our upper levels we could bring up.

What would we do if Heum or Huff had a season ending injury?

handle that when it happens and then go into next season with 2 quality catchers

Agree. Why give up two very good catchers who hit well? Our prospects should give us quality player before 2024 without trading away Heim or Huff

Other option is to sign another AAA catcher to a MILB contract. If Garver can’t catch for an extended time, this is the option I bet happens.
In case of injury then you roster

We could trade Lowe and put Huff at 1B and bring up a catcher.

i believe CY when he says Garver won't catch this season. they will use him as the DH and then have the surgery early enough that he's ready for ST

If we are giving up on Huff catching at least in a primary role that is not all bad. I would like to see him catch more. If we still had IKF he could be our emergency catcher ha

Just don’t see FO doing that. I still wonder if Garver can play some 1B

It is great to have two quality catchers, if you have a complete team without any other needs. It is great to have two quality players at any position, but it is a luxury that most teams cannot afford.

we are building a very good team and making gut-reacting moves will hurt it. hang on until we know what our real needs are going to be before we start trading assets away. this off-season we will have a clearer view of what we may need and then we make trades

I still believe we will solve some of our needs thru prospects without trading a catcher.

Right now he doesn't have any primary role. So, it is like they have given up on him in that way already.
