I think this is still Wentz. He had a near MVP season in 2017. TD/INT ratio is great.

I like Mayfield and I think he could be the answer in 2019 if he has some improvement and/or Wentz goes down again. The sample size with Mayfield just isnt very big. Bengals had a historically bad D, Chiefs had a bad D, Falcons had a depleted D.

Maybe its a show-me state thing but I've seen too many QB flash greatness without sustaining it.

In 2016 he was tied for 11th in drops. That was always a problem. At no point in his first 3 seasons did I ever think he was going to be a stud. He is essentially what Michael Carter Williams was with the sixers. If you're the only option you're going to put up decent numbers. MCW was rookie of the year and he sucks.

And, neither WR unit is/was good. But the eagles in 2016 was awful.
I edited that post after you quoted it evidently. He was 21st in drops in 2014 and then 33rd in 2015, with a 5.8 drop % as a rookie (pretty good) and then 3.9% his second year (extremely good). Even in 2016, his drop percentage was only 5.1%, which isn't bad.

I would consider his first two years to be average. I never thought he was a #1 WR though. I don't think it's a coincidence his best season in terms of value was his rookie season when he was pretty clearly not the #1 guy. He was just so brutally bad in 2016. And he's done nothing ever since. Even the Pats cut him at the beginning of 2018.

no mistaking Mayfield as a choir boy, but all the pearl clutchers need to move on to Tennis or something if the meanie football players hurt their hearts.
They want to hate him but there's really not much of a good reason to. Unless you're a Bengals fan.

You would for the sake of your argument. He wasn't as good in 2016, no question, but I think "brutally bad" is a bit excessive. Whatever happened to him in 2016 obviously stifled his progression. I would've loved to have seen him on Cleveland this year. If Baker was able to get out of Higgins and Perriman what he did, I could see Matthews having had a nice bounceback year.

They're gonna build a statue of that kid here, and he'll not pay for a meal again in OKC. People love that guy here, and he's still a huge deal to OU. Mayfield is 100% competitor who loves the game. All the other crap is just player hating.

Mayfield is like a rotten bastard version of Tim Tebow, who really is a choirboy apparently. I'll be a Browns fan for as long as #6 still acts the same on the field as he did in Norman.

Already did, they're there for you to try to read. Damn fine WR his first 2 years, then they felt compelled to cut him after just 1 year with Wentz when his numbers dropped.

:noidea:
He was a big slot WR in Chip Kelly's offense. No one else's offense has ever found a major role him. He missed 2 games, was no longer the first option and yet still had a similar year with Wentz than the prior years. Your distance from the facts is showing.

I've yet to see a reason to not like him as a person, and plenty of reasons to think he has excellent character. Not sure why people on here act like him staring down Hue Jackson was some huge blemish on his personality. I absolutely love seeing that kind of fire from a starting QB. It's not like he went over and powerbombed him or something.

LOL oh really? According to @ericd7633, your fellow Eagles fan, he was dramatically worse in 2016 than in 14/15, so maybe you two can figure out the truth there.

And you said he was on the verge of being a stud. Lol. He was progressively getting worse as it went on in terms of actual value. He was the 41st ranked WR after 2015, which was actually worse than his rookie season. He was just awful in 2016, all the advanced stats out there prove it. And you're much better with Higgins IMO. Matthews is done.

The only thing that stood out in Wentz' 2017 season was the TD:INT ratio. Otherwise his stats were really average. Unless Baker completely falls off a cliff next year out of nowhere, I see him besting Wentz' 2017 in almost every category.

He was worse, but Doug Pederson is genius level so he still contributed to the Eagles leading the league in time of possession.

He was worse, alot worse, even though his numbers didn't see that much of a decline, outside TD's.

I mean, he was only 2 years into the league before 2016, and those were two pretty fantastic years, especially considering he played with 3 different QBs in those 2 years. I'm not sure anything would suggest we're "much better" with Higgins. If we keep Perriman, I think he falls to probably 5th in the pecking order for targets behind Landry, Calloway, Perriman, and Njoku, and maybe even Johnson and Chubb.

Are you capable of ending a post without some tired insult?

You and eric are still very far apart.
