Gone Country!
Divisional rival that has had our number for a few years now... Big game for us... A loss? We're in last place in the division... A Win? We could find ourselves in 1st place again...
DK, Abe Lucas, C. Young, Noah Fant out for the game...
George Fant is activated and could see the start at RT and A. Bradford has won the RG starting job for the rest of the season (No more sharing with C. Haynes during the game)
We've got to limit these boneheaded, self inflicted plays that keep putting us into huge holes far too often... The Seahawks are averaging 8.7 yards to go this year on 3rd down... That's atrocius... Penalties, sacks, negative plays are killing us here... Seahawks OL lead the NFL with a total of 28 penalties via a False start or holding call... Gotta stop that... That's almost 4 per game...
Bumpus made a great point on Friday stating that the Hawks need to rollout Geno... Geno is being pressured on 40% of his drop backs this year, 5th highest in the NFL, while attempting almost 39 passes per game...Get him moving out of the pocket with a run or pass... Get to the place where the opponents DL can stop just pinning their ears back knowing that Geno is going to be in the pocket for the most part... Getting a defense to flow to one side of the field will create more throwing lanes as well... For someone as tall as Geno, he tends to get the ball batted or tipped more than his peers at the LOS...
I would say focus on getting the run game going but this OL just can't seem to sustain anything in that category... I would say that I'd rather go 3 and out with 3 straight runs vs going 3 and out with 3 straight passes... This team has to figure this out... Brock and Salk were talking about how K. Walker is missing some holes where the OL has created some lanes... They mentioned that he seems to be bouncing it outside too often due to him not having faith that a lane will be open up the middle... Makes some sense I guess... If that's the case, I'd rather him fight for 4 yards rather than bouncing it outside for a big play resulting in a no gain or 1 yard loss...
Going to be a tough game... I'm going to say, Seahawks 27 Rams 24...
