The week 2 power rankings are out so what are your surprises? I was surprised to see Seattle drop 6 spots and was also surprised to see San Diego ahead of them in the list. It doesnt happen often enough when a team beats the top ranked team and then is ranked ahead of them after the win.

How are the Saints that lost to Atlanta and Cleveland ahead of anyone with a 1-1 record?

Meh hawks lost, they deserved to tumble in this round of "who has the better record". But if you think there are 6 teams in the nfl that are better then seattle I disagree with you.

Got to love how they allow one week so early in the season to influence rankings. Seattle falling that far is a joke. I would guess if Seattle wins this next week against the broncos they will once again be at the top while Denver will free fall. To me if you are going to do them this way why not just call them standings by record rather than power rankings.

Just curious...do you think any team is better than Seattle?

For starters...that would be misleading considering there are three 1-1 teams ranked ahead of 2-0 Buffalo and the 2-0 Texans are ranked lower than two 0-2 teams.

I understand they don't do it all the way through like that but it does seem like they overreact to a loss by a top team more than they should. To me a power ranking is based on the idea of how I think a team is truly ranked not by their record being the #1 factor.

Meh I don't care much about power rankings - they're not really relevant, especially early on in the season

That's assuming a top team should have been a top team to begin with. Before the season started, they had the 49ers as the 2nd best team in football. They had the Chiefs as the 8th best. They had the Texans as the absolute worst. I think substantial rises or drops in the beginning of the season makes much more sense than at the end of the season.

At this time I do not.

I now think SD is closer then I did before Sunday. But on a neutral playing field I still believe Seattle beats them more times then they lose. But SD got the W when it mattered so like I said I dont care about Seattles fall in the "listing teams by record" rankings.

It's also pretty funny how the 0-2 Saints are ranked higher than both the teams that beat them. And way higher at that!

I seldom ever even look at these power rankings and predictions from the so called pros.....
They mean nothing, the game is played on the field, not on paper lists, and your guess is as good as anyone else's because it's only a guess, can't know til the game is over.....When you think about it, every NFL team has professional athletes and coaches, so that always gives credence to the saying; "Any given Sunday" or Monday or Thurs for that matter.....
One win and it's the Penthouse, one loss and it's the outhouse, it's the nature of the beast......

These lists are fun to talk about but they mean very little

I prefer the type of power rankings that look beyond the first 2 games of the season. This one is by far the worst I've seen. If they were accurate you wouldn't have the #7 team favored by 5 points over the #1 team.

This pretty much nails it on this particular power ranking list. I honestly don't even find the Seahawks ranking the most ridiculous.

The Cardinals are ranked the No. 5 team and the Niners are ranked the No. 12 team yet Vegas puts the Niners as a 2.5 favorite on the road to the Cardinals.

Anyone who thinks the Niners are the No. 12 team in the league either is mentally disturbed or picking teams based on jersey color.

Personally, I don't think 12 is that far off for the niners. Their secondary is really bad. They are not the same team as last year. I do think 5 is high for the Cardinals. If they beat the niners this week, then I think it is more accurate.
