Game Thread: Week 17: Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos

The final game of the Denver Broncos season is upon us as the Raiders come to Denver. The Broncos are actually currently favored by 1 point in this match up of teams that disappointed. Las Vegas has lost 5 of 6 with their only win coming against the Jets due to a head scratching defensive call at the the end of the game. We will see if the Broncos are motivated to avenge the blowout loss in Week 10.

I think the Broncos can win the game if they can avoid turning the ball over. The Broncos have found a way to get a Defense to perform reasonably even with a lot of guys out. It will be interesting if Callahan returns. Fangio indicated at one point that he would like to see Callahan finish the season on the field, and believes it is important to Bryce as well.

I am kinda sad to see this season end as it will be a really long time until the Broncos take the field again, but this season has been so disappointing. Some of the disappointment comes from actually having expectations going into the season. Here is to getting out of the game with no serious injuries, and start preparing for the 2021 season.

Not mentioned here, but it was classy of the Broncos to arrange private air transport for Harris to be there at the birth of his kid. Stuff like that can be a tiebreaker in a contract negotiation. It kind of makes sense now - why Harris signed up with the Broncos for another year - he would have just found out he was going to be a daddy.

My guess is it will come down to an evaluation between Shelby and Jurell. I believe there is only room for 1 on our Dline, and with in the salary cap. I am not sure which player I like more. Jurell didn't play a lot here, but is a really good player, and we are all well aware of what Shelby can do. That would be a tough one for me. Shelby is a couple years younger so maybe that is the tie breaker.

I think this was a great move by the Broncos, and one that other players may take note of around the league. It seems that the Broncos organization really cares about the these guys, and I think that will mean something to players, or it would to me.

Same thought. I like how this year ended with Shelby and Denver much better then last year where it seemed to be going into the offseason they weren't really getting along. I think we lock him up long term this year, but then I also have to consider Simmons and other contracts coming up. It will be interesting. A 3-4 year deal would be nice.
