If you like snow football, it looks like Green Bay and Chicago should have some fun in store for you today.
Game Forecast: Periods of snow. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 100%. Snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches.
Similar forecasts up at Lambeau as well for Green Bay/Houston.
A lot of talk about Barkley this week, and the narrative in Chicago will obviously large in-part revolve around his performance. The #1 thing I'd like to see from him today is no turnovers. Along with Barkley on offense, I'd like to see Marquess Wilson have another nice day. He seemed to finally show some flashes of what we had hoped he could be last week, reeling in 8 of 11 targets for 125 yards and a TD (dropped another). Howard could be in for a nice day as well, against the league's worst rushing defense.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bears are obviously banged up (just like the entire team). Both Freeman and Trevathan are out, but this opens the door for two intriguing young players I think we all want to see a bit of. In Nick Kwiatkoski and John Timu. Both have contributed in small doses, and I'm interested to see how each of them get after it today.
Last but not least, this could be the return of Kyle Fuller today. I figure his snaps will be limited, but how he performs down the stretch could be a deciding factor on whether or not we address CB in the draft this spring. Deiondre Hall could also return, as he was back in practice this week. He's a guy I would really like to see more of. He made plays all pre-season and the first few weeks of the regular season when he was out there.
Also, it goes without saying that I don't think many of us mind if we drop this game today, and move up into the #2 overall spot in the draft. This game is rather key to our draft positioning. I'm not one to get overly caught up over where we pick in the draft, but the way this season has gone... I won't complain if we lose out. Although, spoiling Detroit or GB the next two weeks wouldn't be horrible either, I suppose.
I'll post the inactive lists when they come out prior to kickoff.
December football between two teams with a combined three victories! How exciting!
