I have the feeling that this situation will end up well for the Broncos and Harris, with Harris remaining onboard even though historically, it doesn;t seem that Elway takes too kindly to public contractual/financial demands ..

But that is one thing that I love about Elway, and while I understand Harris' importance - and I do love him as a player and person - if something cannot be reached in the best interest of the team, then I'd have no problem with the team moving forward without Harris ..

There's a vibe around this team as far as a new beginning, and a new hope for the defense to become dominant again .. I am disappointed in Harris because with all this excitement over Fangio and the D, the fact that he's publicly stating that he wants to be the highest paid CB or else - eehh, that's not what I would have expected from him ..

I'll be really happy if it can be worked out ... but if not, then, oh well ...

In defense of Harris - in this league - when you sign a team friendly contract (unless you are a QB) - your teammates don't like it - as they perceive that as lowering their bargaining power. In this case - Harris reminds me of my kids when they were younger and couldn't wait for something to happen.

Chris Harris' price might have gone up with Howard's new deal of 5 year $76.5 million with $51 million guaranteed.
Sources: Dolphins to give CB Howard record deal

This probably is not a going to help a deal get worked out. Has anyone heard if there have been talks between the Broncos and Chris' representation.

Yes - and they have been quiet - until recently. Quiet is a good sign. However, stuff like this news impacts things.

Howard’s ago was a major factor in his contract. But Harris aint old yet either. Cap going up this year and every year recently will net another CB leap frogging Howard.
Bouye was the top paid CB and he was a splash in lasy years free agent class.

Yeah not gonna happen with his contract demands. If it was his first big contract then sure.

Nothing groundbreaking, but Nicki Jbabvala reports that the two sides are talking

The Broncos and Harris are apparently working on a short term deal .. A lot of speculation, but it seems it might just be a bump in the 2019 salary ( ? )

Chris Harris Jr. rumored to be working on short-term deal

I think this is actually good news. The random salary cap variable in this equation is what - if at all - will Joe Flacco make next year - if he's playing for the Broncos? So reward Harris for a year or two - as a top paid CB in the league - throw in incentives and options of various kinds. Harris gets recognized and rewarded - immediately starts playing for his new contract and the Broncos have a vaunted secondary in place.

I’d rather not let a primere CB like him hit the ope market next year with the cap high. He’s a top 3 CB imo. Very reliable in coverage, tackles well, physical and has the beat footwork of any CB in the NFL. Pay him now before he hits the open market. 4 year contract would be perfect to me.
