Yeah, but you also have to look at the Hodgson/Sulzer trade, as well as getting a 1st for Gaustad.

Not too mention the Ott/Roy trade.

Every deal he's made lately has paid off for the Sabres so far.

He's decent in trades, but abysmal at free agency.

I agree that Hodgson/Sulzer looks excellent so far. Ott/Roy has been pretty much a wash IMO. Ott's #'s as a Sabre are worse than Roy's, but he brings better intangibles.

Gaustad for a 1st was nothing special either. Getting a 1st for Goose is OK in itself, but his total failure to address the gaping need for a decent faceoff center after the trade makes the trade a loss, IMO.

In 2006, #Caps dealt B.Witt to NSH for pick (Varlamov). Varly then traded to #Avs for pick that became Forsberg. Forsberg today off to NSH

Feaster got 2 1st round picks and cleared out approximately 14 million in cap space for next season. For as much grief as he receives, that's not too shabby.

Incredibly pissed off. I don't care if Erat is an actual top-6 forward. Caps needed to retool and reload but instead are trading away a top of the line prospect that could easily help the reloading process to attempt to make the playoffs where they'll be no closer to a Cup since 1998. Trading away the future to "go for it" when they don't have the roster to do that.
