Only thing that I can think on this is that the Caps scouts and management have seen infinitely more of FF than all of us combined and maybe they were concerned about his potential to transition. Maybe we saw Petr Forsberg and they saw Radek Bonk.

We will know in 2016.

To me, Caps have to make it out of the 2rd round now or McPhee is gone. No 2nd thoughts about it. And I've been defending him for a long ass time.

Personally I think all 7 Canadian teams come out of this deadline looking pretty incompetent...especially Winnipeg.

I thought Ottawa did well picking up Cory Conacher for Ben Bishop - I agree about Winnipeg though, they didn't do anything to enhance their playoff aspirations.

Is it too early to start laughing at the Leafs for saying with Riemer as a number one goalie?

There wasn't a sensible option that was available. Who should they have picked up?

Toronto didn't do much of anything, and quite frankly, shouldn't have. Their best bet (IMO) is to stand pat with what they have and see what happens.

Peter Ing?
Jiri Crha?
Mike Palmateer?
Doug Favell?

Oh right, you said sensible. Nevermind.

I put that caveat in just before I hit the Submit Reply button.

Yeah i guess Ottawa did okay in the Bishop trade though they did give a conference rival the star goalie they were looking for. Cannot fault Montreal for standing pat pretty much given the great season they are having.....still seeing what other teams gave up for players these teams could have used it looks like they dropped the ball. Find it hard to believe the Habs or Leafs for example couldn't have offered better for Clowe or Torres

Hey BlueWolfZero, were you hoping/thinking that Hemsky might be traded today?

Yes but I knew he would not be. thought a team like Washington funny enough would end up taking a chance on him. Seeing what Nashville got for a similar floater in Erat makes me hate Tambellini even more!

Toronto did pick-up a Victoria based purse snatcher (always good to have depth on defense for the playoffs).

/Yes, I said Toronto and playoffs, get used to it folks.

I thought that Bishop would have been a good one to pickup. I don't know if the Leafs had him rated that highly though.

Ottawa asked Philly for Couturier in a Bishop deal. Answer was No. Tampa deal a good one anyway for Ottawa in my mind
