Finally!

The long wait is over. The battle for a starting position starts today!

I can finally snap out of my disdain over the blow up hype about the World Cup and this silly Manchester United vs Roma "Futbol" game at Mile High.

LET THE BATTTLES BEGIN!

Broncos Training Camp Preview - Mile High Report

Don't knock it. That actually looks like it'd be a good match. Probably a lot cheaper than a Broncos game too

Of course, nothing actually BEATS a Broncos game at Mile High.......:suds: (Well, except maybe a February 2015 Broncos Game in Glendale, AZ......)

Only 2 players not practicing today in Chris Harris (PUP but at practice) and D. Thomas (Grandmother died). The team is getting healthy ladies and gents! Hopefully that can continue and no big injuries here in training camp or Preseason games.

Just a quick note...Bryn Renner was actually the first player on the field today. Kid is showing he wants to really make this NFL dream happen.

Eric Decker had 87 catches for 1,288 yards & 11 TD's. Will he get anywhere near those number in N.Y. this year?

So just a few notes from Camp so far...

Welker has been unstoppable by any Corner on our team so far in one-on-ones. Although this might be his last year with us he is not going quietly into the night.

Manning to Sanders has been a thing of beauty already this morning.

Latimer has had no problem with any kind of press coverage just running either right over or around Corners with ease.

The Return game is really up in the air right now. Guys competing for punt returns are Welker, Burse, Sanders, and Norwood.

On a bad note Vickerson has already left the field with problems with his hip again. Don't know yet of the severity. He walked off on his own so good sign.

Von Miller has been participating in 7-on-7 drills today! Team is holding him out at least till the 3rd preseason game from contact but the fact that he is already on the field practicing is a pretty good sign he should be ready by week 1 to be a big contributor.

Jerome Murphy might be a no-name that makes a name for himself at camp. He has bounced around the league for a while but does have the height/speed/bulk combo that you are looking for in a corner. The Broncos have been known lately for being a very good team to be coached up so maybe just maybe this kid can make it as that 5th corner on the team as that is wide open right now of who gets it.

Talib looks really big compared to the other corners on the team. Some thought he was one of our safeties when he came on the field.

More to come later as I get more information.

A few different places...I follow a bunch of the Denver Sports writers on twitter so keep checking for updates from them. Also Mile High Report has an ongoing thread that has updates from different people at the camp. Denver Post will sometimes posts videos and updates as well.

Finally!

Excited to see the type of pressure this Front 7 can produce. If they stay healthy, they could be very scary. Malik Jackson has a chance to develop into a real nice player with all of that talent around him. Also very interested to see what Quanterus Smith is all about.....

Missing Persons Report: Ronnie Hillman are you out there? lol

Go Broncos!

So Vick was not on the final injury list for the day by coach Fox. Latimer had a foot injury and Bolden had a shoulder injury but both minor. Not bad for first day where you usually see a pulled hamstring or two.

New guys are realizing the Super Bowl or bust mentality as Sanders gave himself an F- for practice today because he dropped a single pass in practice. Good to see the right attitude.

Os looked pretty good today hitting some perfect passes in the one-on-one drills.

So far so good at practice from what I can tell

Reporters once again commented on Emmanuel Sanders speed. I read one that said he is the fastest receiver he has ever seen in a Bronco uniform. They used him all over the field today and even ran a reverse with him so expect him to be used in a wide range of ways this season.

Even though Latimer showed up on the injury report he was one of the last players to make a play in practice running a go route where it would have been an 80 yard touchdown in an actual game.

Right now in the nickel package it looks like Trevathon and Irving are the two Linebackers with the first unit. Both had knock downs today and looked good in coverage. The Corners did as well. Manning had to really work through his progressions and on more than one occasion had to really step up in the pocket and hold onto the ball longer than he ever would in a game.

Bradley Roby got beat a couple of times but otherwise had very tight coverage most of the day. Even Manning wanted to challenge him some but couldn't because of his tight coverage.

Julius Thomas spent his off season actually working out with Tony Gonzalez. It really showed as his route running looked much improved and he just looks like a better overall player.

Bibbs is the guy of the undrafted rookies that got the most work for the RB position today. Coach Fox said they will try out different guys on different days and see how it goes but Bibbs got first crack at it. Not sure how he did though.

Just getting into the office so trying to catch up a bit. Few notes of interest...

Brock Osweiler looked much better yesterday than he did in OTA's and Minicamp. He actually made the play of the day with a perfect throw to Latimer (hope we keep hearing that connection for years).

Montee Ball is actually now bigger in size than that of CJ Anderson. Ball has bulked up to 220 while Anderson has slimmed down some to 213. We shall see how that plays out but he looked good in practice especially as a receiver making some tough catches.

At the WR position Sanders and Latimer were the stand outs. Sanders with his speed just wowed the crowd. Latimer just was physically imposing on any corner that tried to cover him. He beat people deep, he beat people with out jumping them, he bit them with short quick throws. For a rookie he just was impressive.

DeMarcus Ware might be one of the greatest FA signings in Bronco history when all is said and done. He is already recognized as one of the top 2-3 leaders in the lockerroom. He was seen today spending time with every pass rusher on the team offering them tips on how to better pass rush. Von Miller was by his side quite a bit at practice. Throw in then just as a player he looked explosive yesterday.

One final note...Von Miller worked on his lateral movement today and showed no pain or favoring of his knee he had operated on. Very good sign if he is already trusting the knee to hold up.

Also two of my favorite quotes of the day came from Knighton and Peyton.

Knighton was asked about watching the Super Bowl and said that he has watched it enough times that he actually hates the Seahawks now. He made sure that they understood he was not misspeaking when saying that either.

Then in Peyton's interview with the press he actually tried very hard to get the reporters to say "Blue Balls."

This team knows how to get serious for business but knows how to have some fun too.

Not as much news coming out of camp today so only little things until I see full reports from some of the reporters at camp.

Offense and defense both had their moments today. At one point in 7-on-7 drills Osweiler and Manning had only one incomplete pass between them. At the same time both Manning and Osweiler were picked off a couple of times today.

In fact one of those interceptions was by of all people Sly Williams jumping up and snagging a Manning pass.

Derek Wolfe also looked good today blowing up Clady. In fact probably the group with the worst reports today was the OL. Didn't hear much good but again full pads have not gone on yet so we can't really tell.

Latimer continues to make plays all over the field.

No significant injuries today again! Tomorrow is first full pads practice though so hopefully that trend can continue.

After practice Manning was talking to his 2 new receivers as they had lots of questions for him.

Louis Young is making a name for himself as he has had an interception in both practices at this point and has looked good at other times.

Ball once again impressed with his pass catching ability making some catches in traffic.

A name that keeps standing out that is on the roster bubble is that of Omar Bolden. The guy has looked like he finally gets it. Hopefully this is true and we see that early round potential he had before injury in college.
