Wondering if the Flames would rent out Iggy at the deadline. This is like a five year pipe dream in the making.

Guess it all depends if Calgary is a buyer or a seller at the trade deadline. With the additions of Cammalleri, and most recently, Wideman.. it appears the Flames are making one last push with Iggy.

If Iggy wants out, he will get moved (but he needs to go to management to tell them it is time to move on)

Devils or Isles... because all of my favorite players seem to like facing the Penguins nowadays.

Flames have showed NO signs of wanting to rebuild, nor move Iggy. everything they did this summer shows to me that Iggy will retire a Flame. nothing wrong with that.

Come on, we just need him for a playoff run. The Flames can have him back afterwards.

imo, both sides are waiting for the other to blink because no one wants to be seen as the bad guy?

at season end, Iginla said if management thinks they can improve by trading him they can come to him and talk about it

meanwhile management was saying if he wants a change he can come to us an talk about it

all the while, both parties probably know a trade is the best thing for each of them

"Rebuilding on the fly" matty, that's the new catch phrase in Calgary...

Although to be honest, seeing the package that Nash brought back to Columbus, I think I'd rather hold onto Iggy and see what happens this season.

i guess in a way the entire NHL fan bases outside Columbus should be happy with the return, it might set some more realistic trade value in the NHL now. I mean he really is one of the biggest stars in the league and that was the return. its not terrible but in the way some big name stars have been traded it kind of lines up that the way people overvalue their players on their teams can get straightened out a little.

In the Calgary Sun this morning, Randy Sportak wrote an article discussing the Nash trade and the Iginla implications, but I liked this picture that accompanied the article:
