Aaron belongs somewhat high on these lists, but I just don’t see him competing at THIS level. You gotta respect his durability, but he just wasn’t GREAT the way Cobb, Hornsby, Robinson and Henderson were.

As I have said throughout this project, though, if he wins this spot, I am AOK with it. He certainly would not be an embarrassment representative here and certainly has a strong argument for taking this spot.

It still seems like he is a lock to go 5 or 6. Maybe 7 if somehow people rallied against him.

I totally agree. Doesn’t mean that matches my OPINION.
I'll admit that I had Aaron at 5 before really digging into this. Honestly still might have him at 8 so if he goes 5 I wont care too much.

I still value prolonged peak over straight accumulation, but Aaron’s accumulation is not your garden variety accumulation. But imho, he still belongs lower than Cobb, at least, and probably below guys like Hornsby, Robinson, Henderson and maybe Wagner, Bench and a few others. But his GOAT accumulation needs to be respected.

Im assuming you're talking about Jackie Robinson?

You definitely have an interesting take. I wouldn't have Bench anywhere near Aaron

Or Robinson (he means Frank I think) or Henderson. I think even by his criteria Aaron comes out ahead. Henderson was kind of an accumulator too. What are the WAR7s for those guys?

A bit high for Frank, too.

If we're just talking primes then Trout has to be top 10

Imho, Henderson is the anti-accumulator. He lasted forever, but the last 7 years or so of his career, he wasn’t an impact player, but he played because he wanted to. But much of his value doesn’t show up on HIS baseball card.

I fully admit, I likely over-rate Henderson. But he played such a unique game, he needs to be judged differently than everyone else.

Frank. One of the most underrated players ever.

Here's the stats

Trout does indeed look strong with WAR7

That's the fun of these things, not sure I agree but you make a good argument. And the arguments are the fun part.

I have a hard time really ranking active players. There needs to be a little separation to gain perspective, I think.

Okay, you guys convinced me to vote for Cobb. I voted for Aaron in the last vote.

even peak, there is a difference between a Koufax peak, and having a WAR7 that is dispersed throughout their career...

if i ever make my own stats... i will use the term WAR just because it is known right now, but my WAR would not be the WAR we know...

i would like to do a
WAR- overall career
WAR5- best 5 consecutive years- must be consecutive,
WAR7- best 7 seasons
WARH- only measured in playoff games won, with a bonus for every WS championship...

and then there would be a combination of all 4- similar to JAWS, not sure how i would weigh each 4 categories though...

probably in order

WAR5
WAR7
WARH
WAR
