Wins don't matter once you get to a certain number of losses.
The committee has always hated losses more than anything. They are consistent with hating losses.

15 losses and you are not going. That is the magic number it seems.

14 losses and you better have a super strong argument with your wins...and hope all of your losses are losses to decent teams. If any losses are shaky, you are likely done as well.

Yes, the ACC has some good teams I get it. You also went 1-3 in those games(only play the birds once), lost to fellow bubble team PITT 3x, lost to Clemson, FSU, and St. Johns. I'd GLADLY have SDSU move into a conf. like the ACC, I'm sick of being in a mid-major conf. where you have to go to extra mile to have the committee give you a deserving seed(or put you in at all). Would they win the conf.? Doubtful, but I think they'd hold their own with some of the top teams in any of the power 5 especially considering the recruiting classes would likely get better.

I hear ya on being in a mid major and the lack of recognition. But that says nothing about dissing SU.

You point out SU's losses but give no credit for the w's or the schedule. SU won the Battle for Atlantis that had UConn, Tex A&M and Gonzaga and Cuse. So thats not shabby. SU beat Duke in Cameron and Roberson set the Cameron record for boards...ever. And beat ND.

Plus the coach was suspended for 9 games.

Now SU was on the wrong side of the bubble...but the pluses were just enough to give them the nod. I was sure they were heading to the NIT myself...but when you compare all the bubble teams....none of them hand the top 25 wins that SU had. And none of them played 12 games against teams already in.

When it gets down to the end...they start picking who's the better of the worst. SU got the nod and it makes sense.

@Bolts

SU played 12 games against NCAA Tournament teams this season prior to the NCAA tournament.

3 of those teams are in the E8. 4 counting SU.

When you play that schedule....you get an invite when you're on the bubble.
Cuse was 4-8 in those games including 2-7 vs the 9 ACC games they played. I guess just not tanking it in a conf like the ACC, Pac-12, or Big 10 where you're gonna get 7-10 games against fellow NCAA tourney teams means you deserve to make it, even if you weren't that good against those opponents.

SU has 13 losses on the year. On the bubble teams....they start looking at the schedule and W's.

Are you still pissed about that beat down on the navy ship in San Diego a few years back?

Cuse one of the last 4 in shows how deep the ACC is. They wouldn't be so deep in other conference.

Well I just wanted to point out the losses because you pointed out tough games they played. I understand beating Duke in their gym is impressive for any team and beating ND, who while not one of the most dominate teams is consistently good and just made the E8, is a quality win too. The wins against TA&M and UConn were solid too. I don't feel the coach suspension should be used in a way to be more understanding for some losses, if it was a top player hurt like the PG for the Shockers I'd get it. I get they might have had more top 25 wins than teams like Monmouth or SDSU, but it helps when you a lot more chances. Aztecs only played 3 tourney teams, 1 being the top overall seed, and went 1-2. They also get punished for the rest of their conf. playing like ass, even if they were an NCAA quality team.

Shouldn't come as a surprise the two worst P6 conferences(B1G & SEC) don't put a team into the E8.

Outside game + facing a zone = trouble for the Aztecs. Probably would have lost even if it wasn't outside because SDSU has not been a great shooting team, but that didn't help.

Dude....this was a fun game...don't care who you are. If you read the thread...I was biting my nails the whole game. Should they be here or not shouldn't be a discussion today. That shit was decided a few weekends back and you and I going toe to toe means little. Sunday SU plays VA.

And SU will be ready.

The Zags were at the Battle for Atlants and didn't show up for the Title game that SU won.

The Zags place 2nd on the season and won the West Coast Conference tournament afterwards.

SU just beat that team. SU belongs in the NCAA Tournament.

No surprise, it was down to the wire. I can say they don't deserve it all day long it but it hasn't meant anything because their name was announced 2 weeks ago while the Aztecs are having to settle for New York. Should be another good one against Virginia to see who advances in the ACC tour...I mean NCAA tournament.

Only thing worse than playing like shit and winning (Notre Dame) is playing like shit and losing (Wisconsin).

God DAMNIT Badgers, that was the very definition of a winnable game.

The way VAs playing.....My heart tells me this is the end of the road. But that's cool. This is the third E8 in 5 years for the Orange.

Which helps me forget about the two #2 seed first round losses to a 15 seed from back in the day.

The ball bounces funny for such a round ball.

Possibly, but Gonzaga had looked really good coming into today and even did in the 1st 10 or so minutes today and still didn't finish it off. I wanna see a UNC/UVA Final 4 matchup, but Cuse will test Virginia for the first 25-30 minutes. Even if you lose, it's still been much more than you could have imagined at the end of the regular season.
