Series Thread: tOfficial Mariners 2019 Season Thread

So I know someone asked the other day, I forgot who and I apologize about whether we want to start a separate series thread or go with a season long.

I like the idea of having a season long thread instead as many of us can sometimes forget to start one individually. If anyone feels like there is a need for an individual series thread, go on with that!

This thread is to kick-off the season long discussion starting today 4/1 with the Angels series

Felix vs Stratton starting @ 7:10p

It will be nice to look back in one place to see where this season will all go wrong.
I for one am taking full advantage of the M's hot start to the season. Everyone I work with now knows who the best team in baseball is RIGHT now. World Series here we come!!!

Beckham is AL Player of the Week. Very well deserved imo... his statline is off the chart.

Yeah I thought it would be better to have one on-going thread.

That way we can discuss the games and other random stuff similar to how we do in the offseason thread.

Yeah. I’m all for it and think it’s a good idea because we can then look back and see where the team progress or digresss throughout the season.

It takes the M’s 7 games to finally get a Felix start. A testament to how fast he has fallen.

I think it has been more gradual than that.

He started showing signs of decline in 2016 and it had only become worse every subsequent year.

Yeah. His arm is pretty much shot, I just hope he retires at the end of this year as a Mariner. We wish he can be like Jamie Moyer but Moyer has always been a finesse pitcher which helped his longevity.

Not sure if Jamie is instructing pitchers but someone like him would be better to get into Felix’ head over new analytics type coaches.

Really like this Beckham guy. Track record hasn’t been spectacular for him but I think being in a new scenary is helping him right now. He’ll cool down back to normal though but let see how far he’ll take it.

Smith is also someone that has been a nice surprise so far for me as well. He’s a decent lead-off hitter.

Narvaez so far has been a huge upgrade over Zunino

In a season where this team is suppose to struggle, it's nice to see a hot start. Not sure how long it'll last but enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Remember the days where Felix not getting enough run support and still manage to squeeze out 1-0 or 2-0 wins? Then we complain about him not getting enough run support? Yeah, that feel so long ago.

Nowadays a 4-0 lead can be gone in a heartbeat.

Good thing with Beckham, is if he can somehow get put into their long term plan he can play 3B. But at this pace Jerry better make up his mind and do a contract extension now, otherwise there is no chance they can afford to keep him.
