I wonder what most fans' answers would be.

"That's up to you guys to decide, my focus is going out there and trying to help this team win"

Exactly. Generic bullshit instead of just being humble and telling the truth.

Here, I’ll give you guys what you want to hear:

“Oh Brendan Ryan, no question, actually I can’t believe I’ve been allowed to play Major League Baseball as long as I have. My whole life has basically been a lie, if I have been drafted by the Houston Astros I would have only been in the majors for a cup of coffee and then gone on to be a male prostitute in San Francisco or a crack head in Oakland. Thank God for this uniform, it has really fooled a lot of people”

There, print that and hang it on your walls.

That would be no more ridiculous than Jeter admitting he's a liability to his team and this season will be nothing but a distraction for everyone because he's a gloryhound who announced his retirement in February.

The Yankees don't have a prayer of putting shit together until all the selfish gloryhounds are gone. At some point this season Mariano or his people will get talk brewing of his return and he'll garner himself a little more attention. It's what these gloryhounds do. Mariano is going through attention DTs right now and is suffering.

I would just want to hear the truth. No need for teen girl hyperbole.

Who is the better shortstop in the Yanks organization right now, Jeter or Ryan?

Jeter.

Ryan is on the DL and is not even participating in baseball activities yet.

So if it's obvious that a better SS is on the team and the Yankees are in the midst of a pennant race, what will Jeter do? The right thing and sit, since he's a "class act"?

Pretty tired of the parade around every Yankee player who retires. Last year it was Mariano Rivera and this year it is Derek Jeter. Who is next?

I absolutely love it! I couldn't find a better pic but Barstool Sports had the text.

Directions: Should the sappy and sycophantic musings of Kay, Waldman, Sterling, Francesa, et al regarding the impending retirement of Derek Jeter induce vomiting, open bag rapidly and insert stomach contents.

WARNING! Repeated exposure to video clips of Jeter’s last 2 truly great plays may cause nausea and vomiting (“the flip” vs Oakland in 2001 and “the dive” vs Boston 2004 – note the years)

Should vomiting occur for more than 4 hours, please console yourself with the thought that were it not for the Alex Rodriguez stellar/drug enhanced performances in the 2009 postseason, “The Captain” would be 14 seasons removed from his last WS Crown

Avoid pink Jeter jerseys, YES network flashbacks and Mariano Rivera retirement ceremonies, and references to Jeter being the first ever unanimous Hall of Fame selection.

Jetes 0-7 last night, now batting .250 :L

I will have to say this, so far he seems to be much less of an attention-whore gloryhound than Mariano.

Brenday Ryan if the superior shortstop for the Yank$.

really wondering if Jeter will allow him to help the team if they do well at the end of the regular season and make the post season.

we'll see soon enough.

with his amazing performance today, the captain is batting .240

not all that great.

in much better news, his dWAR is only 0.0, which is above average for him. :)
