I have to say, this one's pretty cool. Mets did something right for once.

Absolutely. Love the subway tile number, and they wrote a check to his foundation in the amount of $22,222.22.

Le mot juste.

How has Jete been a distraction? Compared to say, A-Rod last season?

First of all, are you fucking kidding me? How has he been a distraction? And you're going to justify his gloryhounding my comparing him to the A-Rod steroid scandal? :L

"He might be a selfish asshole, but... but... but at least he's not as bad as A-Rod!!!"

No I'm not kidding you.

I fail to see his retirement circus of gifts as a distraction to the team. With the Yankees trying to juggle injuries to the rotation, they still find themselves 1 game back in the AL East. So I'll ask you again, how has Jeter been a distraction to the team?

Gotta agree with the hammered one, announcing your retirement at the beginning of a season so you can get a year's worth of send-off tributes is very self-serving. In no other industry is this practiced.

Why didn't he or Mariano wait til the end of the year, last game, and say, "That's it for me, I'm hanging up the cleats..."? There have been plenty of players in all the major sports who have done just that, good ones, hall of fame ones.

I don't care if they're both "nice guys," I believe that what they've both done is more distracting to their team than a few media guys asking you "Are you retiring?" a few times during the season.

Look at you, you can't answer the question. Pathetic.

What's done is done. IMO, he should have waited to the end of the season.

With that said, I haven't lost any respect for Jete and don't see his retirement as a distraction. I've asked Hammer twice to tell me how Jeter's retirement circus is distracting to the team and he can't answer the question. I wonder why!? LOL

The Yankees won today 7-1, now .5 back from the first place Orioles.

Jeter needs to stop distracting the team! :bored:

Are you 12 years old?

Says the guy who negged my post. I'm obviously not a fan of his. Don't be so sensitive.

Even on Memorial Day, Jeter has to be a prima donna.

Very self-centered.

It's really hard to watch, but he's not as bad as Mariano was. Somewhere right now Mariano is mainlining a load of glory, laced heavily with attention.

Question: Can a player be considered "all class" if he takes a spot on the All-Star team that a much better young player has rightfully earned? :noidea:

Good question. If the younger player earned the spot, he should be playing.

If the 'crappy player' took the spot, one would think there's a problem with the system and not the player.

The player that 'took a spot' shouldn't have been entitled to take a spot in the first place., unless it was 'given' to him.
