Stating facts about Jeter is not hate.

I've found that Yank$ fans simply don't understand why everybody doesn't grovel and fawn over Jeter the way you all do. He's a fine player. Above average offensively, and below average defensively for his entire career.

Feel free to cream yourselves at the mention of his name, though.

This post is part of the reason for this thread... There are so many fans that put Jeter in the same category as Mariano and Cal, that some of us need to underrate him a bit, just to even the score.

Jeter is a great player and clearly a Hall of Famer, but not among the greatest.

Take JAWS for what it is - a player's total batting WAR averaged with their best seven year peak batting WAR... Even with this offensive calculation, Jeter is 12th...

For pure offense at short, I would say Jeter is definitely top 5 all time. Include defense - at a defensively important position - and his overall value plummets...

It actually has more to do with the Yankees selling tickets and MLB selling jerseys. This is also why he hasn't come out yet. Unfortunately, some fans still might have an issue with supporting a gay player.
