I'm surprised Pedroia hasn't been busted yet.

So is Jeter the "Darth Vader" of the evil empire? At the end will we feel a little sorry for him because he got his ass kicked by his kid or what?I don't know, as much as I dislike the Yankees, I just can't raise my level of hate for Jeter the way I can for some others. Of course I never take any of the homerism/hate too far anyway. It's just not that important in the big picture of life for me. ARod, on the other hand, I have no trouble hating. I didn't like him even when he was young and playing for the Mariners.

As for the retirement circus, it is the Yanks after all and it is no surprise. My guess is that most fans and fellow players will be happy to wish him well for his life after baseball. He has been pretty good for the sport over-all, imo.

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that anyone will ever feel sorry for Derek Jeter, even if he does get his ass kicked by his kid.

"I don't want to be a distraction for my team. That's why I announced my retirement in February. I'm not an attention-whore." - Jeter

I still remember going to one of the first games ever played at the new Yankees Stadium. It was a pre-season game against the Cubs. They announced Jeter's name for the first time, and for about 5 minutes, it was like watching an entire crowd that had all just taken a hit of ecstasy.

It was really gruesome.

I actually like that approach.....Now I know when I go to Yankees stadium this season that I need to cherish that moment because DJ won't be out there next season

I'm sitting here watching the Yankees @ Astros (Astros telecast) and I'm about to hurl at all the disgusting knob-slobbing, not to mention thousands of Yankees fans with their iPhones filming each at bat while giving a standing O.

Puhlease.

The Houston crowd motivated Jeter there with those Derek Jeter chants.....Without those chants there is no way he brings in the runner that RBI single

Jeter with the 2 out RBI single after the Stros fans were chanting "Derek Jeter"

If a NYC reporter ever dared ask Jeter the following question, how do you think he'd respond:

"So Derek, who is the better shortstop on your team, you or Brendan Ryan?"
