I can tell you that the day James signed with the Heat,
they changed their policy to no pictures/autographs at any team planned events no matter how big or small,
expensive or inexpensive.

To compensate, they usually give each person a pre signed item.

About the only way to get him, would be if you are friendly with another player and that player asks him to stop for 30 seconds.

He's beyond ridiculous, he positions himself where nobody can really get near him and brings his own ' person' to keep people away.

If he stops in public and signs or poses for 1, then he becomes a storyline when he refuses the next persons kid.

It's a no win situation for him.

Stars as big as LeBron have to do that. Otherwise, they would be mobbed everywhere they went. People often forget that these celebrities are people too.

Lebron is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't...no matter what. Unlike last time, the guy hasn't uttered a peep about free agency in front of a camera and yet the haters are still out and about.
Its almost as if fans are hating because Lebron doesn't strive to be a carbon copy of Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson...and that he doesn't give a damn about some legacy as much as....he's supposed to...?

If the worst thing Lebron has ever done as a human being is advertise his free agency decision or "conspire" to build a championship team with a pair of fellow All Stars than damn, what a guy. Never popped for drugs, never beat his wife, no gun charges...never made it rain in a strip club...

Leave the fucking guy alone already. Damn.

I agree. As I've said before, I'm up for a good Lebron bashing as much as anyone, but I at least like it to be about something accurate.

Some of the stuff that people say makes me want to defend the guy and that pisses me off.

So because Cael Sonnen says something, you accept it as the gospel truth? C'mon man. This was Jim Rome show for crying out loud. Not exactly a reputable news source.

And you are way off on this. Any celebrity is entitled to decline autograph requests when they are trying to enjoy an evening out. Your inability to see that is far more disrespectful than LeBron saying no to autograph hounds.

Again, if this is the worst you can come up with, you are reaching pretty far.

Assuming it's true (and I agree, Jim Rome isn't exactly known for his accuracy), I can see both sides on this. For a fan, that may be the only time he will ever see Lebron in person and have the opportunity to get an autograph.

However, I also think that these guys should be able to enjoy a night out without having to spend 3/4 of their time signing autographs and posing for pictures.

Quite a few years ago, my mom was at a shopping mall in Los Angeles. She see's Magic Johnson walking through the mall and knows that there is no bigger Magic Johnson fan than me, so she walked up and asked for an autograph for me.

Magic told her, "I'm very sorry, I'd love to, but I'm in hurry and if I stop to sign one I'll have to sign a lot more and I'll be late". He then thanked her for raising her son right to be a Lakers fan.

To this day, it's one of her favorite stories. She was so impressed with how he handled that.

Exactly.
That is how most are taught to handle it.
Public situations differ. Nobody should ever be bothered if they are dining or in an obvious private situation.
Every now and then you might run into a player who is just hanging out and doesn't mind posing.

With James though, he should be held to the same standard as the other 13.5 ( Wade being the other . 5) players when he is REQUIRED to be at TEAM fundraisers/premium - sponsor events.
They usually aren't required to stay for more than an hour.
All the other players seem to survive it just fine.

When I lived in Akron, I think I was 11 or 12. My parents and I were eating at Applebees and my dad says, "look that's Lebron James, with a couple of his friends." He wasn't as popular then, I think only a sophmore in high school but we have been to some of his games. Anyway, I said I would go over there but wanted to wait until he finished eating. So we wait, well the my dad says, "I will go over there." Then we are arguing about who wants to go over there, we look over and he is nowhere in sight.

I was pissed!

Riley was in chicago talking to Dengs agent. said they gave a range of contract numbers depending on lebrons return to the team. Question though is why do you want another 3 if you expect lebron back? I thought he wanted a point guard so he didnt have to bring the ball up.

All I can figure is Lebron gave Riley some assurances that he was resigning. I still dont know why Bosh is not out looking for a max deal. its the last one he will probably ever get. Houston and the Lakers would love to get Bosh. He isnt even meeting with anyone. I dont like Bosh, but its not really fair to him and his family. First they talk of him accepting 11 million, probably since at least its more than Duncan makes, but then say he wants 90.

They have currently 3 PG's, Chalmers, Cole, and Napier. Cole is likely to be dealt I think though.

Bosh should just go to LA, get the max, and lose there.

Chalmers is a FA and likely the odd man out.

Miami's priority (through the media) is fixing the perimeter rotation of the 2 and 3's. It would make sense, because you could always start Lebron at the point and Deng at the 3. Deng could also come off the bench, albeit that would be alot of money for him, but it's all about the amount of minutes he'd play. I doubt the Heat get Deng anyway.

Chalmers is a free agent and the Heat's not wanting him back based on public perception. If the Heat could replace him with someone like Jameer Nelson then all is good. I have high hopes, but in no way do I believe he should be starting his first year in the league.

The heat need someone who can play 25-30 minute at a wing position and start when wade doesn't. that way if ray comes back he can stay on the bench.

Deng (although it sounds unlikely) would be a huge get for the heat. defensively he would help so much, it would give LeBron much less of a load and allow dwade to rest way more. I'd rather have dwade play 70 games 25 minutes a night than 55 games 32 minutes a night. Ariza has the same impact.

Now in addition to that, they need a couple guys to fill smaller roles (a banger/rebounder and a veteran PG) cant rely on napier developing well and cole can be unreliable at times.

The other option is to get a guy like Gasol and then fill in a guy like marvin williams on the wing. and a vet PG to solidify that.

Isiah Thomas would be intriguing although I don't think the heat have the money to get him.

maybe so but if that's his intentions then maybe he needs to pay the 5000 dollar per seat or more depending on area.

Well I guess you are talking about letting Bosh go then, bc the Heat just don't have enough to sign all these guys. Gasol could replace Bosh and they could get Deng and some other guys if they don't sign Bosh

Bosh is vital to their plan. They need to get him back, and they will get him back. Signing Deng does not prevent that, but somebody is going to have to take less $.

So far...
I'm starting this thread mostly to stop another one from getting further hi-jacked, but partly because I really feel that Lebron is getting a pass in this whole free agency situation.
Lebron is holding Riley and other potential Miami heat fa's up and could further hurt Miami IF he wants that max contract. Sure he DESERVES it, but HE is the guy that popularized the whole taking less for the greater good of the team. Now he(REPORTEDLY) wants a max when he has gangs of endorsements, and tens of millions off the court? I really cant get pass that, but it is being reported by reputable people such as Woj. and in this case Windhorst is reputable as well. It doesn't make sense because he has always been about getting into the right situation...but the heat now have to go bargain shopping again due to him waiting it out. Even he does take less, a guy like Kyle Lowry is already gone. They could of had the money to get him but Lebron is sitting back waiting on Riley to wave his magic wand. I just don't get it, if he preferres Miami, then just end this thing and sign on so that other marquee guys can join. I mean the pg's and big men are going left and right. Riley isn't the one on the clock...LEBRON is
you make a great point. he does deserve the max money that he is asking for. but at the same time if he really wants the titles he should take less and let teams build around him
