Well, if you were Houston's GM, would you rather be the 4th or 5th best team in the West for the next 7 years?
Or title front runners for the next 3-4?\
True.

Remember when the biggest criticism against NBA players was their valuing of money over winning?
Now that there's been a trend where some of the best players are actually valuing winning over money...
"That's cheating! He's chasing championships!"
As I said on the heat board, the man loves attention. He could've done what carmelo did and waited until a day or 2 before the deadline to opt out because he knew he would but no he does it a week in advance and before the draft. This should've been done on the 28th or 29th.
Not completely correct. Players still want to make as much as they can over their first several years and then start taking less later in their careers to chase rings. The only difference is that we're seeing them do so sooner than usual. Previously, it was mainly guys with only a couple years left (Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shaq, etc.). Now we're seeing guys with 4-5 years left starting to do it.

So?
Shouldn't we always value players wanting to win over taking more money?
Isn't that the point of the game?
To win.

Pacers still won't win a title.
