I don't think the NCAA wants to hasten their death. Only real reason some of these larger schools like Tennessee went unscathed whereas some schools got a sledgehammer for similar infractions. If this was say... Minnesota, they'd get the death penalty.
And see, that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. As it should. Shouldn’t matter if it’s michigan or some no name

I would be shocked if no name schools aren't stealing signs
They likely are, but not to the extreme being alleged, fwiw. And not necessarily in a way against NCAA/legal rules

There seems to be some idea/narrative Michigan had something like 50 plays on a given opponent whereas something more like 10-15 would be expected/normal.

So knowing 15 plays is expected but 50 means death penalty? We don't necessarily know whether michigan broke any rules either yet

see, that statement is intellectually dishonest. it's how you go about doing it. and there are rules in place to what you cannot do. if you figure out your foes signs through the course of a game, hey, more power to ya. but sending a scout to dozens of games and recording their sidelines is out of line. especially buying/paying for expenditures.

But if the rule is only that the teams can't record, then having people not associated with the team record instead isn't violating the rule. It is as stupid as being ok with certain sign stealing but not others in every other context here
That would be all fine and dandy if Michigan hadn't made a career out of "doing things the right way".

You lambast others for playing in the gray then you better believe it's going to come right back at you ten fold.

100%. The optics alone on this are devastating. I wonder how many coaches and analysts bigger programs have all the way down to grad assistants. Near impossible to keep tabs on everyone, especially when they are using others to do the taping for them. I would be very shocked if the top brass knew about these elaborate schemes because the benefit received is minimal for the amount of cheating required. The top brass would absolutely want this shit to be done professionally as well so there was little hope to ever get caught. This cheating scheme was beyond idiotic.

Especially when you have a good team. you would think a team doing this would be a bad team.

I wonder if this is why we are hearing reports of them sharing material with other schools, as it would then be possibly considered readily available
"Readily available" means anyone can pay the same price to acquire it.

I hope everyone is now past the denial phase. There is evidence dripping from everywhere. There is video proof
I've been wrong many times in my life, and likely will be wrong again soon, but I don't think I would get my hopes up here for anything but a slap on the wrist at best.

I honestly don't see this going anywhere with a big penalty attached. The NCAA suspended Harbaugh for 4 games to start the season, the University of Michigan said to the NCAA, "Nah, we'll suspend him for 3 games and that will be enough".

The NCAA tried to flex with the NIL stuff, and all it did was neuter them. Now they can't do anything. If colleges can pay recruits thousands of dollars just to visit them now, what does the NCAA really have governing power over? Whatever power that is left is slowly disappearing.

Like I said, I could be wrong and Michigan/Harbaugh could get slammed here, but I just don't see much happening.
