Fucking Inspector Clouseau could solve this case.

I am starting to believe the idea that the coaches and decision makers had no idea it was against the rule.
That is the only reason for the sheer incompetence of Michigan in leaving the most damning evidence everywhere just lying around.

There is no logical reason for them making this so easy for investigators, unless they truly heartfelt believed it was fully legal.
I would not be surprised if there was a big box on Harbaugh's desk labelled "Video Sign Stealing team Payroll and Expense receipts".

That is how lazy Michigan has been in hiding their cheating.....they must have believed it was legal.

ESPN has been off and running, literally non-update updates every 6 hours on cnnspn. I want to see the video evidence that all 132 schools said they had the day after the damn story broke on this guy in the stands, especially with dozens of pics showing him on sidelines of Michigan games all year

Michigan sign-stealing allegations: Next steps for NCAA, Big Ten and more

On Wednesday, The Washington Post reported that an external investigative firm tipped off the NCAA with evidence of signal stealing it had obtained from computer drives accessed by Michigan coaches, setting off a new set of questions.

According to the Post, the firm provided NCAA officials with photographs of people it believed were scouts working for Michigan, including current students who were working as interns inside the football program. Videos the scouts purportedly took while attending games were then uploaded to a computer drive "maintained and accessed by Stalions as well as several other Michigan assistants and coaches," according to the Post.

How the firm obtained access to computers being used by Michigan's coaches -- and who might have hired it to conduct the investigation -- are among the most important unanswered questions.

"All I know is that no reputable private investigation firm is going to sit down with the NCAA and show them information without being able to explain how they acquired it," a person familiar with the Michigan case told ESPN. -- Mark Schlabach

the fact we have kids signing multi million NIL deals and don't have mics is pretty god damn funny. Methinks the fact Marvin Harrison can be on a chip bag might make for a better recruiting pitch than "we can afford mics and you cant"

get the mics..dump the signs

but of course give UM the death penalty on the way out

This has to be the dumbest cheating scandal in the history of sports.

So spycraft is illegal in college sports unless you are spying on spies, in which case there won't be any questions asked? And this "third party private investigative firm" isn't on some other school's payroll? If they accessed Michigan's football program's computers then isn't that also extremely troubling to anyone?

Not a lawyer, but wouldn't that be a felony?

One would think. Wasn't the FBI also just on the UM campus regarding improper access of Michigan's computers? Could that possibly be related?? This is such a bizarre (and stupid) story. In a world where every single game is televised and recorded 10x over, the rule is that you can't have a staff member attend the game and record it themselves?

Obviously, teams are going to scout future opponents, and obviously this includes viewing their tape. It is a well-established practice to steal signs at the game, but somehow you have to pretend you don't see how an opponent does their signage in their past games. It's all insane to me.

as said on the other site the most logical thought process is the FBI came across this info and handed it to the NCAA

All reports are saying a private investigative organization handed it to the NCAA though right? I thought the reporting ruled out any FBI involvement. :noidea:
