No matter who we get in the front office, they wouldn't know how to rebuild if you gave them a set of LEGOs.

Probably have to start with this... and even that's a stretch.

7 yrs? No!
2021 they better have a roster to compete for a wild card and 2022 contending for a division title. The fucking Marlins have 2 in the bank while Mariners FO continues to pick their nose.

If the key to winning is having the best young talent, then the Blue Jays will win the next 5 World Series starting in 2022. They have some of the best and we aren't talking AA and A guys. We are talking Rookies up and playing well already.

Braves as well. They could retake control of that division again.

I know the M's don't give a shit whether or not we win games anymore this season, but I just don't understand why Servais lets LeBlanc give up 5 runs and doesn't pull him. It's so shitty now I guess it isn't even worth watching the games anymore. Glad football is coming up now.:yes:

Ya I grew up watching them dominate the division on TBS/TNT back in late 70's and 80's. They do it right.

The Bobby Cox era was unreal too. Now sadly the Yankees have a strong farm system with an already talented team. I wish the FO could hire some of those guys to run the daily operations.

2017 Baseball Prospectus Rankings:

20. J.P. Crawford, SS, Philadelphia Phillies

Why He’ll Succeed: We will be the last place to give up on JPC, and there’s good reason for that. He’s a good shortstop glove with an advanced approach at the plate. You can handwave some of his offensive struggles in the upper minors to a series of minor injuries and focus on a potential plus hit tool with surprising raw pop lurking within as well.

Why He Might Fail: We implore you not to scout the statline, but he’s a career .232/.328/.323 hitter in over a season worth of PA in the International League. He might just not be that good a hitter?

22. Fernando Tatis, Jr., SS, San Diego Padres

Why He’ll Succeed: The plus power/speed combo ends up carrying the profile at whatever position he ends up. And hoo boy are the early returns there encouraging.

Why He Might Fail: That position is unlikely to be shortstop and there is risk that he whiffs enough that the power doesn’t play in games, and he isn’t on base enough to utilize his speed.

Mariners would never hire any of those guys. If you did that, you would have to actually try and win and winning gets expensive and creates expectations...

Maybe the FO lowers expectations to get fans pumped for Seahawks, Huskies and soon to be the NHL expansion team which will probably win the Cup before the M's win the WS.

Never thought of it but maybe they own stock in the other Seattle teams they make look better. :)

That's probably true but I don't want their stench walking into those stadiums. We already have the pink nightmare stadium with a pile of shit in the middle of it.

Very true. I was scared seeing Servais at Seahawks practice so owning parts of other local teams would be end of Seattle sports.

I understand what you are saying because you are a real fan, but like when they started the competitive balance compensation a while back the Marlins made more money than the Yankees and were the worst team in the sport by a long shot. Sad, but that is the game we love. Like I have posted in the past, Howie said it best when he said making the playoffs is not profitable (the playoffs themselves).

Well of course not. Connie Mack’s philosophy with how to make a profit was exactly how to make money, but now that the August deadline is gone I’m not sure of how it is. Mack’s philosophy was always to be in 2nd until August 31st then trade everyone away. You’ve made more than enough profit for the year and aren’t paying jack for salary in September...which is perfect now since the NFL owns September.

A lot of faith in Dipoto in this thread. I honestly don't see it. I don't think Dipoto is a GM that can build a contender, especially starting from nothing. This team won't sniff the playoffs in 2021.

I still believe in Jerry I think too many people give him heat for this season the man literally came out and said that this was going to be a scrap year, unfortunately unless you are the Yankees or Red sox or a big time franchise like them you will need to tank. The Astros tanked, The Padres tanked, teams in other leagues tank. If you ask me if I would rather be a mariners fan right now or a Rangers/Angels fan with a pipe dream of making the playoffs with not much prospects to bank on, I would rather be a mariner fan going forward.

Jerry won enough game to be extended we had like 1 winning season in the prior 6 seasons before he got there. when he takes over in his 3 seasons 2 of them they were winning. Expecting to out play the Astros with a championship roster with what we had at the time with over paid old players and 0 budget in the payroll were ridiculous expectations.

Ranking All 30 MLB Farm Systems, Post-2019 MLB Draft

As long as we have a stacked farm with a winning AA ball club with players getting promoted are all positive signs.
