Not a bad signing but nothing to put this team in a position to be a contender imo

Good signing considering what's left. Good D - lefty bat - 20 hr guy. If the Sox can keep Timmy, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn and Moncada healthy and productive - they don't need superstars but steady contributors. We will see how the contract is structured. but Benintendi played for $8 million last year. Still need a left starter, a 2nd baseman and additional help at catcher.
I bolded the $64million question, can these guys perform in a full season? We have yet to see this from our key starters.

Seriously, I think the Sox relied on Abreau to lead the younger Cuban and DR players along. Abreu's leadership by example didn't work with the kids that way. Now - Gilfol and his staff have that work - which is where it should have been in the first place.

All I want for Christmas is a gold glove 2nd baseman with range (hits are a bonus). Plus put a catcher in my stockings to replace the broken down one with a year to go on his contract.

I'll take this over any further additions since under the current despot, additions suck anyway:

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all my fellow White Sox fans, even former Chicagoan and current carpetbagger @Jiddy

Merry Christmas CSF and all my other Sox homies. Times look bleak but maybe they’ll surprise us this season. (The players not management lol)

There's a paywall but I will summarize:

1) The Sox have 2.5 hitting coaches.

2) They figure that the Sox were not prepared to hit against the pitching they saw and didn't figure out an approach until the 2nd or 3rd time through the batting order (which I believe is true)

3) They don't intend for that to happen this next season - so proactively, the hitting coaches will prepare the hitters for the starters prior to every game - including programing pitch machines to mimic the next starter's pitch make up.

4) The hitting coaches think this will pay off in better strike zone recognition based on the pitching the hitters will see in the next game. They believe it will this will lead to fewer swings and misses.

5) Two White Sox players are already spending 5 days a week at the hitting coaches' home batting cage in Miami - those guys are Romy Gonzales and Oscar Colas - the apparent rookie starters at 2nd base and RF.

6) This is the way the Atlanta braves conducted their hitting support.
