For what it's worth, it looks like my hockey fantasy squads are going to finish a combined 36-4 and 1st/2nd overall in their respective leagues. First time I've done this in many years. It was good to get back into it, but there have been a shitload of injuries late in this season. It's difficult to manage, however, the live drafts are a lot of fun and it really plugs you into what's going on around the Nhl.

That and some of the best players in the world are being rested right now for the playoffs. So, for example, Cale Makar was bank all season long and now he's useless in the last couple of games.
Maverick for GM !

Yea, Maverick should replace Briere. Knows way more and sure as hell would get us out of the crappy-ass rabbit the flyers have been in for the last two decades.

They really need a Sam Hinkie to be the GM.

If this team doesn't get McKenna, then someone else will and without any of the top 10 players in the league we won't have a chance in hell for at least another generation.

Good story in the Athletic pointing out who we may target for offer sheets this summer and who other teams may target on our team for an offer sheet. Here is the breakdown:

Flyers targets:
Mason McTavish
Marco Rossi
Mathew Knies
Mavrik Borque
Noah Dobson

Other teams targets :
Cam York
Tyson Foerster
Noah cates.

Activist would be a decent addition, maybe Knies on our side Cates would be the only one I'd worry about.

We all know ya would, Maverick!! And I would venture to contend, that you'd have the Flyers back in competitive status in a year or two. I know you would have a better draft than the one Briere did last year, that is for sure!!

Well, as bad as we are, why aren't we drafting the best player available at every single damn pick!? That's the very least that we need to be doing. Who gives a shit if the guy is a winger or is deemed to not fit perfectly into our future plans? We need an overall talent upgrade, so it doesn't much matter.

Yea, we have a dire need for a Center more so than a goalie at this point. Every other selection shold be talent-directed. Get the best player available!!

The game tonight in Philly against the Jackets is actually intriguing. We've already basically eliminated the NYR and NYI from postseason contention and now we can do the same to Columbus. They are 4 points back of Montreal, but have an extra game to play and own the tiebreaker. Also, those teams are going in opposite directions right now. The Habs are hanging on for dear life and the Jackets have won 4 straight.

On the other hand, if we win tonight, we risk passing 3 more teams in the standings and dropping to 9th in the draft order from 6th. Ouch.

I think I would rather just see Columbus win out and then Montreal choke away the playoffs in their last game...Lol Technically, Montreal plays Carolina tomorrow and if they lose that one in regulation, they'll be at risk on Thursday night (assuming CBJ beat us tonight). They are desperate and they are winning. They should be us, but we shall see.

For me, Bump really stood out in that NCAA Championship game. I don't think he recorded a point, but he was leading the charge for his Western Michigan Broncos, causing turnovers and often looked very dangerous offensively out there on the ice (as a playmaker). I would consider him a darkhorse prospect for us in training camp at the beginning of next season.

It doesn't show on the stat sheet, but I think he was a big part of that 6-2 win over BU and NCAA Title.

Unfortunately, it looks like we won't be drafting a consensus top line center unless one of the following occurs:

1. We win the draft lottery, getting the 1st or 2nd overall pick.

2. We trade up into the top 4.

3. We lose in regulation tonight and Thursday, while Seattle and Boston both win their final games tonight. We draft 4th overall (or better).

4. Someone like Desnoyers or McQueen falls to us and develops into a top line center.

I would love to be able to get Misa at #2 overall.

I'm gonna go with option 2

So, the Briere/Jones tandem will be graded on the last game of the season.

Losing guarantees us the 4th worst record (9.5% to get #1).
Winning could put us 7th (6.5% to get #1).

Fortunately, we win every tie breaker because I believe that is regulation wins.

4th worst record
#1 9.5%
2 9.5%
3 0.3%
4 15.4%
5 44.6%
6 20.8%

2 6.5%
3 0.2%
