This mess of a franchise starts at the top. The ownership allows for Comcast influence because of money. Comcast has influenced decisions before and they just have no other agenda than money.

The rest have done stupid shit for so long they may not know how to do things differently. Even with bringing in Briere and Tortorella, the needle indicating the Flyers are closer to that desired reality of playing for a championship has not been moved much. Some think it is further away than ever before.

Small steps yes, but miscues from Briere and company have had big consequences (We all know that story). The long tenure of WTFC and Hextall have placed such a pall over the Flyers that sometimes think they are now cursed in a major way.

I hope these small steps conflagarate into a fire but we shall see going forward.

Corporations are always horrible owners. They only see the bottom line and not how to objectively get there. They have a guy they hired that was supposedly tuned in to hockey to be there over seer of the organization, that dude probably played pond hockey one winter and that qualifies him, because it's been a few years and shit ain't much better.

I think we're actually closer to being a playoff team than everyone realizes. It's not going to happen this year, but much like last season, it should've. We've had the horsepower at even strength to make it. It's the lack of even a decent power play and the inconsistency defensively that has absolutely killed us. You could make the argument that a backup goalie is needed too, but that's an easy fix. Fedotov has statistically been the same as Ersson, but he's just not winning near as often.

And so, moving forward, if we can bring in a power play specialist (coach and player), get some growth from our young defense and more scoring from guys like Michkov, Tippet, Foerster and Brink, this team won't tank next year, they'll make the playoffs.

To further the point about goaltending:

While their save percentages are all similar, Ersson has 21 wins in 42 games started, and Fedotov/Kolosov have combined for only 10 wins in 34 games started. By my math, that's 7 fewer wins with our backups in net vs. our starter.
