Extra fun stat that I heard on the PHLY podcast this week. The Flyers PP, since Thompson took over in the 22-23 season, is ranked 33rd in the NHL. Utah and Arizona both have a higher percentage than the Flyers' cumulative 13.9%.

And more, because it's really ridiculous that he is still employed.

The Oilers have scored 104 more goals on the PP than the Flyers in that time span. 0.45 goals per game more. Would take the Flyers from 30th in goals per game to a respectable 13th over those nearly 3 seasons.

McDavid and Draisaitl alone have outscored the Flyers PP. By 13 goals. Point and Stamkos are the other pair (for most of the time) that has equaled the full Flyers PP output.

Michkov only needs 10 more PPG to tie for the team lead for the last 3 seasons.

And perhaps my favorite one, over those nearly 3 seasons there are 96 individual team seasons played. The 3 Flyers seasons are #88, #93, and #95.

The day we got rid of Joey Mullen as our PP coach was the day it all went down hill.

I think 3rd and 4th in the draft lottery are still wide open for us. Buffalo (4th) is 4 points back, but with 3 games and hand and we play them twice yet. Nashville (3rd) is 6 points back, but with 2 games in hand and we play them once more. Plenty of wiggle room.

At this stage, I think we're going to end up 3rd or 4th, and the outcome of those head to heads will go a long way toward determining that. We can probably all agree that San Jose and Chicago cannot be caught, even if we lose out. They are 15 and 19 points back. It's just not happening.

I'd say we're the coldest team in the Nhl right now though. Sure, we might play hard, but we're not playing to win.

Drafting top 5 has been rough to us over the years.

Cutter Gauthier 5th overall in '22.

Nolan Patrick 2nd overall in '17. The Devils got Hischier 1st overall.

JvR 2nd overall in '07, which is not terrible, but some guy named Patrick Kane went 1st overall to Chicago.

Joni Pitkanen 4th overall in '02.
