I’ve done a lot of work in Alberta (oil & gas). They are a good bunch. Feel sorry for them being stuck with the rest. We should make Alberta a 51st state and let the rest go be a European colony.
Not to be political, but as we did, they need to cut themselves off of the weak representation.

Shame. Quinn Hughes should be in this game tonight, but since USA technically already has 6 healthy defensemen, he can't play. Coming into the season, I would've expected Luke Hughes to be on this squad too, but he's still quite young and had a bit of a down year after injury. I believe all 3 Hughes brothers will be in the Olympics for us next year. Both Tkachuk brothers will be there too, obviously.

That said, I expect to play better tonight and beat Canada again. Historically, Canada has a big edge, but times are changing and this game is in Boston.

Either way, this should be one hell of a game.

That absolutely blows. Team USA played well enough to win, especially in the overtime, and Binnington just stole it. Not sure why or how McDavid is left wide open in the slot. Other than that, nothing anyone else could've done. For such a competitive game, it just feels like a silly ending. You leave arguably the best player in the world wide fucking open in the most dangerous area of the ice...Lol

I hope we get the ultimate revenge next year in the Olympics. Again, Team USA should be stacked.

Im still pissed TK was scratched again.

You cant tell me he wasn't better than at least 1 of their bottom 6.

I have him better than 36 year old Marchand, for sure. If we go back 2-3 years (or more), it's probably different. I'm sure they kept Marchand in because he's won a Cup and played in a million playoff games. He has the experience and the track record.

Guys like Hagel, Cirelli, Bennett and Jarvis got in ahead of him because they have more big game experience and better advanced stats.

I think he's about dead even with Jarvis, so he could've started over him as well. Konecny's advanced metrics are not great this season and he doesn't have a ton of experience in big games (which is not really his fault). Still, I'm sure that hurt him, unfortunately.

I don't know if Briere and Company are up to the task, but somehow we need to get past this transistional state we are in and move to the next level with the right players, who are not only comptetitve, but have the talent to take the franchise into the realm of championship consistent play.

Jesus. We're scoring goals in bunches as we speak against Edmonton in Philadelphia. Tippett has a couple goals. Michkov is lighting it up. Couturier has his 200th career goal. Kuzmenko has a power play goal, his 1st as a Flyer.

I don't know how to feel about this right now. We're at the bottom of the division and have played as many games as anyone. We have Edmonton's 1st round pick, so beating them (in regulation, especially) isn't a bad thing, but I do feel it's too late to be thinking playoffs for our squad.

That is so true Maverick. What is so frustrating is what you stated here. We have quite a few players who are just killing it on the ice and yet we sit in the cellar of the Metro Division. Just too damn frustrating, but I suspect it is the continual progression toward Lord Stanley's cup (hopefully).

I'm happy for Sean Couturier. He scores his 200th goal, has 3 points and is a +5 on the game. Nobody else is going to give him any respect these days, so I will.

This is tough because I think we're in the deepest division of the sport. As far as points go, we're not far out of it, but there are just too many pretty decent teams that we'd have to clear in order to make the playoffs. It's literally 6 teams...Lol That's too much traffic to make it in, plus we're very likely to sell at the deadline, which is coming up fast. Some other teams that are close will buy.

If we were serious about making the playoffs at all, we wouldn't have lost 7 of our last 9 entering the break. That has doomed us.

I wouldn't mind putting the final nail in Pittsburgh's coffin in the next couple games, but beyond that, there's no reason to win another game this season...Lol It's sad, but true.

We kicked some ass tonight against Edmonton. Six to three win. Is it the start of something bigger and better? That is anyone's guess. The newly formed line of Matvei Michkov, Owen Tippett, and Sean Couturier emerged as a formidable force, combining for a total of seven points during the game. I am thinking that maybe this will be the foundation for something to really build upon.
