Well maybe Torts has lost his players. That remains to be seen.
No, they play hard. But it's just a hopeless situation without Carter Hart. He was the Flyers' savior. And it's been all shit since he left about one year ago exactly.

Torts knows... “When Carter left, that threw this into … turmoil,” Tortorella said. “It is what it is. We’ve lived with it, we continue to live with it and we do the best we can. No one foresaw this. … No one foresaw this was going to happen as you develop your team, and you develop probably your most important position.”

Dont think he's lost them, he is not an offense first type of coach, and he may be at a wall. The biggest issue I see is our defense collapses to low, doesn't stand anyone up at the blueline, and have very little to no physicality. Feditov played really well, we just gotta keep their stars out of our kitchen, plain and simple.

Meanwhile, Travis Konecny is on pace for exactly 40 goals, 50 assists and 90 points. Those would absolutely smash his career highs. Unfortunately, nobody else is consistently scoring. We need more out of guys like Michkov, Tippett, Frost and Farabee, or whoever else is in a scoring role on any given night.

The special teams are killing us too. Our power play is obviously bad, but our penalty kill is down 5% from last season and we don't score shorties at the same rate either. So, we were 4th in penalty killing last season and now we're 17th. We scored 16 shorties last season (#1 in the Nhl). We're on pace for 4 this season.

It's not getting any easier. Really tough stretch of games in front of us.

2 points ahead of the #5 pick.
And just when I think the stealth tank is back on, they'll probably go on a win streak.....
Probably right, just gotta sit back and see where everything falls. Torts is probably just holding back the reigns for an epic Blues type run to the cup. Or a race to high pick, wish he'd hurry up and choose.

Sending Andrae down seemed like an odd move at the time.
And rotating three mediocre goalies hoping that none of them get hot works too.....

I couldn't watch last nights game as it was on stupid HULU but the consensus from what I've heard is more of the same which was:

Score first and get a lead. Lose lead in second get physically beat up on the ice and lose the game.

Honestly, with the advantage in shots, I thought we were the much better team.
Goaltending was fine.
Special teams was below average.

Michkov looked great with quite a few opportunities, but just couldn't finish.

It's just a loss against a good team.

Cates and Konecny have looked terrific.

I just figure we will be battling for that last spot all the way through the last week so although every game is important to get points in its not imperative as the other teams we will be battling with for that spot win 3/4 in a row and the lose 3/4 in a row just like we do.

It wasn't a horrible game, goal tending was very good we seemed to dominate a lot of the play, killer was their first 2 shots were both PP goals. Were definitely well below on special teams then last year, which is weird because I always thought progression doesn't lead to regression, who knew?

Its funny that you and Sparhawk both said the goaltending was good.

If i didn't ask and just looked at the box score i would've though the Fedotov stunk as he only had 17 shots and 3 goals went in.

That's why its good to have insight into games and not just rely on the box score like a lot of people do. :suds:

He didn't face a lot of shots through the first two periods.

I do remember one nice save when he slid across and got his blocker arm on a one timer that was absolutely going in.
