The Rangers are home and rested and welcome the last place soon-to-be Las Vegas A's to the Grill for a weekend set.

Things are going very well for the little Rangers right now. They sit at 12-6, their best start in 10 years, and in 1st place with a 3.5 lead on the *'s and the Angels. They have a +43 run differential (2nd best in all of baseball) and are +6 vs. 2022. Semien is locked in, the pitching is outstanding, and they're just a lot of fun to watch.

Gray goes tonight at 7 as the team dons the new City Connect uniforms for the first time. Heaney goes tomorrow at 6, and while not officially official yet, deGrom is expected to close out the series Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

Update on Aaron Zavala from Jeff Wilson:

Outfielder Aaron Zavala, considered one of the Rangers’ top 10 prospects, faced live pitching last week in Arizona for the first time since offseason elbow surgery, and the outfielder could join a full-season affiliate in mid-May.

Zavala underwent a UCL brace procedure in November rather than having Tommy John surgery to replace his torn elbow ligament. He started throwing in late January and swinging in late February, and could be playing in extended spring training games in a few weeks.

“His body is in tremendous shape,” vice president Ross Fenstermaker said. “He’s leaned out, and really worked on building the engine and impacting the baseball at a level that we saw at times last year.”

Zavala will be capable of playing the outfield once he gets his assignment, Fenstermaker said, but the Rangers will have him spend at least one week at designated hitter before being eased into outfield work.

There is some internal debate about where he would open the season, with Triple A Round Rock a possibility even though Zavala spent only a few months last season at Double A Frisco. He was very good, though, with a .277/.410/.482 slashline that included eight doubles and five home runs in 112 at-bats.

More from Jeff Wilson:

Other injuries

The Rangers have a handful of notable prospects who are dealing with various ailments. None of them is considered a significant ailment, but all of them are keeping players off the field.

That includes right-hander Ricky Vanasco, who needed surgery on his left knee after a late-spring injury. The thought was he would miss at least a month, but he is already rehabbing in Arizona and will be back sooner than the original prognosis.

Vanasco, a member of the 40-man roster, could join an affiliate by the end of the month.

Zak Kent: This one is a little more severe than the others. Kent has a strained oblique, which he felt while warming up for his second start at Round Rock. The right-hander, also on the 40-man roster, will be out at least another four weeks.

Dane Acker: The biceps tendinitis that slowed him down in spring training popped up again. He remains in Arizona but is throwing. The expectation is the right-hander will be sent to an affiliate in mid-May.

Emiliano Teodo: The hard-throwing starter felt some soreness in his forearm after his season debut, so the Rangers skipped his last turn. They aren’t concerned, as there is no structural damage.

OK it looks like they've said we can do a new banner. I'll come up with something and see what y'all think.
I guess Grossman is a no go. Maybe Spencer with no access to clubhouse lol
Perhaps a shoulder touch

So much thanks for your work
I am nit a fan of the Speagel But I might be outvoted VanderGriffin. “Lol

I've got an idea I think will work pretty good. It's difficult to narrow down the players to use, there are going to be many that don't make the cut for my idea.

why the hell would you put Grossman in the 2 spot
Bochy ball. But yeah maybe Duran who is starting to hit it hard and has better speed.
Grossman had a good read on a hit and scored last game though
