I noticed that Newberg still won't admit Perez's hot start last year was a fluke. It has been about 11 months since I fist engaged him about Perez and he still won't admit Perez is ace-like in his results.
I can't believe I am saying this but we need to give him at least a 3 year extension. His mental breakdowns have become a thing of the past and he has become a pitcher and not a thrower. And he shows up for every start.

Agreed. Perez always had talent but now has mental toughness.
He's absolutely performing like an ace, even if it lacks flashy strikeout stats.

Something about having him here for awhile brings back memories of having Colby Lewis a few years back.

He could be a better version of Colby than Colby was if we get back to the postseason. He might not be the beat pitcher we go to the postseason with, but he might be the beat in the postseason, while being a better pitcher than Colby in the regular season.

Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else, but that's what comes to my mind.

On a more serious note……. It was encouraging to see both the line up and the starting rotation “pick up” he slack for the bullpen. After the reds series, they were in disarray and defin benefitted from the big leads and the Eovaldi complete game.

do I think the bullpen is as good as before the reds series? No

do I think the bullpen is as bad as the reds series? No

the answer lies somewhere in between. It’s a sign of a good team that other units can and do step up to pick up the slack for the one that’s hurting. This Yankees series was a great bounce back from CincinnatI.

We are in first place with an all-free-agent rotation and the frontrunner for ROY at third base. That tends to make me want a hitter more than ever when we draft at fourth overall.

Isn’t there 3 premium outfield bats available in the top 4 picks?

we would need to hope 1 of the 3 teams ahead of us takes the pitcher. I don’t follow the draft much.

still Remember when we missed bregman by one pick. Ugh.

What each team learned in the season's first month

Rangers: Josh Jung is the real deal

The rookie third baseman slashed .204/.235/.418 in 26 big league games at the end of last season, but he’s more than looked the part this year, filling a void the club has had at the hot corner since Adrián Beltré's retirement. Jung has reached base in 20 of the 26 games he’s played in this season and ranks in the top three among qualified AL rookies in home runs (6), slugging (.500), hits (27), extra-base hits (11), total bases (44), batting average (.270) and OPS (.824). -- Kennedi Landry
